My husband and I came here to spend a night and relax after the Christmas holidays. We were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the location. We had asked for a room overlooking the beach. If you are familiar with Galveston, you know that when one stays by the seawall, he is still across the boulevard from the beach. But some hotels sit WAY BACK from the boulevard, and often rooms face the other side. This place was exactly what we wanted. The room had a huge window, and we were on the 4th floor, so we could lie in bed, drink our coffee, and see the waves. Nice place to stay with a pleasant restaurant downstairs. We plan to stay there again.

We came down to Galveston from the Dallas area for a couple of days between Christmas and New Years -- looking for a break from the Christmas chaos. The weather was beautiful - 60 degrees and sunny. I was looking for a good off-season deal, but settled on paying $139 a night for an ocean view (their top rate for the night we stayed). We are members of the holiday Inn Priority Club, so I get points for staying at a Holiday Inn. We were on the top floor on the ocean side. The room was so small that you had to crawl over the bed to get around the desk chair/desk if someone was sitting there, working on the laptop. Even though it was an ocean view, due to the way the building is built, you actually overlook the air conditioning/roof of the front of the base of the hotel. If you can ignore that very ugly site, you can see the ocean across the street from the hotel. Finally, when we woke up -- my husband found there was no hot water - AT ALL. This has never happened to us in a hotel, so rather than complain, we simply went on-line and found a Holiday Inn Express down the street, with an ocean view, for $40 less per night (Priority Club!). We packed our bags and checked out. At check-out, I told them there was no hot water in the room and she didn't seem to care - or ask if there was anything she could do for us. The Holiday Inn Express down the street had a beautiful view, a suite size room and was $40 less per night.

If I had known we would be kept awake all night by noisey loud bar goers at the hotel bar Imwpuld stay elsewhere. Will be contacting the hotel about this horrible experience.

We stayed here in Dec. 2011 before our cruise. The staff was wonderful, the hotel was very nice and clean but the Park and Cruise feature at this hotel needs some overhauling. We made an appt. to get to the pier and that went fine. The way back to the hotel after the cruise was the problem.

We waited an hour and a half for a van/shuttle to come and get us. We had called the hotel twice and they said 20 min. and that 2 shuttles were coming. Right! When we got off the ship there were 4 of us waiting - but the time the shuttle arrived, there were about 15 couples.

After we packed in everyone literally like sardines, two people sitting on a small shelf in the back of the shuttle, and luggage everywhere including surrounding the driver, we were about to leave when the second shuttle pulled up. This had to be 20 min or more after the first one showed.

This was definitely not worth the money and next time, we will park at at the pier. We were very dissatisfied with this service and even when writing to the company, there was not even the courtesy of a response.
