We stayed here on reward points in the fall of 2011. The property is very clean and the staff were personable, enjoyable and friendly without that syrupy, overbearing quality that seems prevalent these days. The parking lot is rather small and comes up suddenly, so be ready for it!
The room was a queen suite with a separate sitting area. Like all Marriott properties there were no surprises here and the quality and cleanliness were up to our standards. A small "kitchenette" was in the sitting area with a mini-fridge, a microwave and a small overhead cabinet. The only downside is the lack of easily usable outlets. With the propensity of gadgets everybody travels with these days, outlets need to be easier to get to and in sufficient quantity to charge a couple cell phones, lap top, camera batteries and "stuff" without having to do the drop and swap.
The property is one of the first things you come to after you come across the bridge from Houston and is a bit of a drive to all the "attractions" that Galveston Island has to offer. Just have to plan accordingly to get to places on time. There aren't very many places to eat in the immediate neighborhood, a wing place, sub shop, stuff like that, but not a nice sit down restaurant that we found. There is a Target close by, so grab a few snacks and stuff and stock that kitchenette!
