We stayed at this hotel the weekend of January 12, 2012. This is an older motel that has outside access to the rooms. We stayed in room 206. This room had probably the best view that you could have of the beach although I assume that the rooms on the higher levels have about the same view because they are not as far away from the beach. The higher even numbered rooms are further away from the beach and have a view of the side of the Kroger.... The hotel staff was very nice, and the breakfast was okay. We booked this room online because it was the best value/rate we could find. This is not a luxury hotel and it is priced accordingly. If you want a decent hotel room and a nice location with a nice view of the beach book here. Oh yeah, close walking distance to the Kroger and a nice Mexican restaurant.

I have to say that right off the bat, this has to be one of the worst hotels I have EVER stayed at. First off, I can't believe some of the reviews that have been written here- were you on crack when you wrote them? Did we stay at the same hotel? Perhaps we managed to get the worst room, I don't know. We have stayed at many BW hotels and have been very pleased with what we have gotten in the past- this room was unbelievable! First off, we stayed for a week this past July. We were on the top floor overlooking the Kroger's side of the hotel. When we arrived at 8 PM from Houston, we could only talk to the receptionist via a little window... Which made me a little nervous about what kind of neighbourhood this was! (The neighbourhood turned out to be fine, but really put me on edge that night) We used $750 worth of gift vouchers to pay for the room right away as we were told this was standard procedure. I went up to our room and my husband and children followed. Now this was where my holiday went to crap- The entire area was apparently hit by a hurricane... but this hotel seemed to have been missed!! I have never been one of those people who doesn't take off their shoes, but the floor was so damp that it was just plain gross! Truth be told I stood there and cried. I just wanted to get to another hotel! The smell of damp was very strong and we had to call three times over the week to get them to spray for bugs in the bathroom. Now we ended up staying as we couldn't get a refund, nor were there any more rooms available. What saved the stay was the daily walk to IHOP for breakfast, spending the day at the beach and enjoying the evenings out at restaurants. I would return to Galveston for sure, but never in your life to his hotel!

We booked a room for under $50 and it was clean and didn't smell bad. The front desk clerk was very pleasant and efficient. The flat screen TV seemed very new as did the furniture.
There was a mini-fridge, microwave, and safe in the room.

They have free continental breakfast every morning from 7 to 10 AM.

$50 well spent!

My son and I had been to Galveston in November to the Best Western Plus so when I saw another Best Western closer to several businesses compared to the one we stayed in in November I was excited to make our reservations for the New Year stay. Upon opening the door the smell of mold hit your face..It was between mold and perfume to mask the smell. It screams needs a make over.The noice from the street was extremely loud and could be heard all night. The staff was nice as can be. This is not a place to stay at if you are looking for a romantic weekend..As a platinum member and have seen many Best Westerns this ranks as number 2 in the worst hotels we have ever stayed...
