“Great Getaway”

I've stayed at The Reef Resort a number of times and abolutely LOVE it!! It's cozy and relaxed and its nice to sit on the balcony and watch and listen to the waves. Some people complain about the traffic, but it's not all that bad. They also complain that it's too far down the Seawall from all the action, but getting to FACE the ocean is a plus in it's self.

I stayed at a motel on the Seawall and it promised ocean-view, but the only view we had was the hotel next door. The TV didn't even work!! We would have stayed at The Reef that night, but it was booked.

I just really like The Reef and when planning a trip to Galveston I always check The Reef first. It's like staying in your own "apartment" during your visit. It's very spacious, cheerful and I would LOVE to take home some of the TV stands I've seen!! Ha. It has a little dining area, living room, full kitchen with appliances (refrigerator, etc.), separate one, two or three bedrooms, bathrooms (depending on amt. of rooms) It's just so cute and cozy! I just don't see how anyone can find something wrong with The Reef Resort. Even the staff is friendly.

It's a great place for a weekend getaway with your honey or a nite out with friends. I love it. I tell everyone about how satisfied I am. I found a Web site that gives a virtual tour of some of The Reef Resort's rooms.

Keep up the good work RR!! See you soon!!

“Girls Getaway!!!”

My girlfriends and I spent 4 nites at the Reef Resort on Seawall Blvd. in Galveston. There are only 3 floors, we were on the 3rd floor in a 3 bedroom, 2 and a half bath oceanfront condo. The decor is simple, there is one queensize bedroom oceanfront, the other bedrooms are located in the back There is a huge covered balcony and as it rained for 3 days we were still able to sit outside. It was a nice experience other than the elevators seem to always break, fortunately not while we were in them, and being across the street from the ocean one tended to not be able to hear the waves until about 2:00 am when there was no traffic..so yes for me it was too loud. There is covered parking in the back which was good. There is also a nice sized pool and hot tub. Shopping on the Strand is always a joy and we attended an antique auction which was fun! "Di Bellas" is the best Italian restaurant. The Balinese Room on the Seawall is making a great comeback and well worth going to for a drink and to listen to some music. My first choice for lodging is Seascape Condiminiums as it is directly on the beach and has by far the best location, however you must have a car as there is no other transportation provided.

“Great service”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Reef. When you travel with a pet it is wonderful to find a place that is so warmhearted towards them. :) We have a Boxer and he is a sweetie, crate trained and a joy. The Reef and its staff made our stay more than GREAT. We intend to stay there again and recommend it to all and especially those who have pets. ALSO, it is not overlooking the "main beach" area so as you look out over the Gulf it is a bit nicer and more natural. Thank you REEF STAFF and we'll see you again soon.

“very pet friendly”

Although not the newest, it is very clean and has all the comforts of home. We had a lovely 2 bedroom and were given a special rate since all we wanted was a one bedroom. Our patio faced the Gulf and the beach was only a quarter of a mile away. Great for walking our 2 dogs. Since it's not located directly on the beach there wasn't the hustle and bustle.
And we enjoyed brunching on the patio in the mornings and a glass of wine in the evenings. Traffic let down about 10 pm on weeknights and it was pretty quiet. Didn't have a problem with the noise inside as long as we kept patio door closed. Ritch (I think that was his name) was very helpful and friendly. If you travel with your pets this place is for you. Too bad I can't say the same about the rest of Galveston. Very pet unfriendly and the pedestrian crossings don't work, making it pretty dangerous crossing the streets along Seawall and downtown.
Should we go back to Galveston, we will definitely stay there again.
But there are better places for people traveling with pets.
