“Nice Hotel, Poor Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

I see now what the other reviews meant by being understaffed. We were in Frisco for the weekend for the super bowl. We stayed a little ways out because it was cheaper. But at 170 a night it wasnt worth it. While the hotel itself is very nice we ran into several problems. First night when I went to bed all of the sugar packets and stir sticks from the coffee maker were under the sheets. Obviously the bedding was not washed between guests. Our room was not cleaned once during our entire 3 night stay. They were in our room once as it looked like the one bed was partially made. We had to finally request more towels. We went down to grab a drink in the bar to find it closed due to electrical fire. They had a bar set up in the lobby and all of the staff was sitting in there, including manager. How unprofessional. The next morning we went to breakfast downstairs. Didnt see anyone for ten minutes. Finally kid came out and took our order. The hotel has potential but needs new staff.

Thank you for your candid and frank feedback on our hotel. As of May 17th, I am the new General Manager for the Holiday Inn Frisco, and my first objective is to deliver on the promises we make to our guests. Your review aids me greatly in this endeavor, and for that you have my gratitude.

Please accept my apologies for the lack of attention to detail from our housekeeping staff during your visit, and for the impression you received from the staff during the lobby reception. I am already in the process of correcting these issues.

Should your travels bring you back to Frisco in the future, I hope you will give us the opportunity to see how we have improved.

Warm regards,

Andrew Dorough

“One of the best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2011

This is probably one of the nicest Holiday Inn's I've stayed at. Rooms were large, clean, modern. People were nice and it was convenient!

“I really want to like this hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2011

This is my second stay at this Holiday Inn. It is in good condition and relatively new. I think it has been open about 2 years. The room was clean with no smells and the HVAC was of average noise and not overly loud. Check in was quick and there was an open house with drinks in the lobby the evening I checked in.

But I had issues:
My first stay the elevator kept breaking and the service in the hotel restaurant was very slow. On this trip the elevator worked great. Kudos to management to fix this. But other issues were not fixed.

1. Internet was not working when I arrived so I couldn't catch up on work email. I got a call from the front desk that it was up later that night but it wasn't. I was finally able to log on the following day. Internet only works via the Ethernet cable and when it is up it is very fast. Wireless did not work anywhere on the 5th floor. They only place I could get wireless Internet is in the lobby area. Go to the left of the check in desk and stand in front of the Texas ballroom and connect to "HI-Meeting". That is the best place I found.

2. I gave up trying to use the restaurant. There was no host and no waiter that I could see. Since I had a bad experience with slow service the last time I stayed here I didn't risk it and went to the Subway for breakfast on Warren Parkway. From the hotel turn right on Warren and the Subway is on the left. Or, turn left on Warren and there is a Dunkin Donuts on the right before in the shopping center area before you get to Preston.

3. I had to leave early for the airport and when I stopped by the front desk to get my receipt there was no one there. I waited for 15 minutes standing in my special spot for wireless waiting for someone to show up and no one did. I don't think it is unusual for someone to leave for DFW at 5 AM so for the front desk to be un-manned for this long is unacceptable. I am still waiting for my receipt to complete my expense report.

“One of the better Holiday Inns in the region”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2010

This hotel is located right next to the biggest shopping mall in the area - Stonebriar and also very conviniently located next to various shopping and eating places. It is reachable on SH 121N from the DFW airport in about 30 mins.

One of the better Holiday Inns it has a bar and a lounge that is open till late hours in the night and a restuarant that also serves Indian food in addition to the regular American food. The rooms are quite decent with LCD TVs and free wireless Internet in all the rooms. The hotel offers free parking and shuttle for close by drops and picks.

Overall a comfortable option for short trips with average to decent level of service and a good location.

“Don't go here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2010

After booking breakfast and a room for two nights, we ate the "breakfast buffet." Are you kidding? Pancakes stuck to the pan, no bacon, waiting 20 minutes for a server to bring a check. The food didn't taste good at all. After meeting with the manager about a refund for the breakfast for the 2nd day, she said there was nothing she could do. Manager was rude, unaccomodating and disinterested in whether we came back or not. We won't be back.
