Stopped in late at night without reservations. Clerk provided a very reasonable rate and our stay was very pleasant. There were a few ants in the sink but after all it is South Texas and they can be found at many hotels. The beds were very comfortable and the A/C was efficient. I plan to return the next time I stay in Fredericksburg.

Although the EconoLodge in Fredericksburg is in a good location (we stayed two nights), we were disappointed with: 1) the room ... particularly the bed; 2) a front desk that didn't answer the phone (at least not calls from our room); and most of all ... 3) how loud it was at night.
Room: We stayed in one of the larger and supposedly nicer rooms, but the bed was horribly uncomfortable ... way past its prime. The blanket and top comforter/spread were very thin and we had to go to the office for another blanket since extra blankets were not provided in the room. There was no hair dryer in the bathroom area and when we asked for one, we were told not all the rooms had blow dryers and they didn't have one available. The second day we "discovered" a blow dryer behind a pillow in the closet. Go figure. Other than that our room was OK ... but just OK. The best thing about the room was the good internet connection.
Front desk: Never answered a call from our room. Enough said.
Loudness: There seemed to be quite a few rooms occupied with people in town for a special event ... I'm guessing a wedding. They were quite rowdy very late into the night, taking their drinking and loud conversations outdoors. They didn't respond well to our requests for them to take their party into their rooms and the hotel management was not concerned. Their comment the next morning was that we should have called the police. This response made me think they have had this happen before and feel it is not their responsibility to act on such matters.
Bottom line: We will definitely not go back to EconoLodge on our next trip to Fredericksburg!

Ants in the sink, mattress was worn out, no hair dryer in the room. The ice bucket was not cleaned the 2nd day and there was hair in the bucket, not our color. There was a wedding party that partied until 2:00 AM. We called the desk, no answer. Asked the people to be quiet, no response. The next morning we complained to the desk and they said "Sorry - you should have called the police". Leaned a lesson - NEVER stay at Econo Lodge.

We stayed two nights at the Econo Lodge in Fredericksburg. What a delightful city and nice lodging. The structure was an older one, but remodeled nicely with new furniture. Very clean room, actually cleaner than large hotels we have stayed in the past. The staff was very friendly, offering suggestions when we asked for them. Breakfast was wonderful: fresh pastry from the German Bakery downtown. Breakfast area was small, quaint, very clean and had several breakfast choices and fresh fruit along with the pastry. We plan to stay here again on a spring trip to enjoy the wildflowers. Large hotels don't often leave lasting impressions, Econo Lodge and staff in Fredericksburg do.
