“Great place! I don't know how anyone could say otherwise!”

After reading these reviews,I was a bit hesitant for my husband and I to spend our 10th wedding anniversary there. I am so glad I went with my gut. I cannot stress how happy we were with the Trois Estate!! It doesn't even seem like these other people went to the same place that we did. Everything was perfect!! From check in, to the room, to the dinner, to the staff. We signed up for spa services and they were amazing!! Elvis, the chef, was wonderful! The food was so good it was like he read our minds on what we wanted! The location made you feel like you were snuggled away in a Tuscan village all alone until you needed something, and the staff would magically pop up to assist you. I cannot say enough good things about this place!! It truly made our 10th wedding anniversary memorable!

“This place was such a disappointment”

Drove 6 hours to get here you couldn't find anyone to help you check in the room we had was tiny....not to mention the shower didnt work and when I asked the owner to see if he could fix it or put us in another room 1 hour passed and I had to go out and find him and he apologized he forgot. The spa was cheap looking in a storage room not worth $140. I asked for a refund and left that night after only being there 3 hours and drove down to austin!!!

“Less Than Motel 6 Quality & Service at Resort Prices”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I've never written a review before, but the poor quality and service at this B&B compelled me to do so. The place is quaint, romantic and interesting but that's about it. You'll pay resort prices for a room and service that should cost $29.99/night.

We booked a room for $189/night and when we arrived we were thrilled that we had been upgraded to a nicer room which normally cost $249/night. HOWEVER……our pillows were flat as pancakes, the mattress was NOT cushy like you’d expect at a resort, the towel rack in the bathroom was broken, only the hand held shower device worked which made it difficult to wash your hair, there were no racks or shelves in the bathroom to put your stuff on and no bath mats. There was a nice garden jet tub in the room but there is not enough hot water in the room to fill it more than a few inches (well below the jets). The drain on the sink didn’t work, and the amenities in the room were large bottles of Suave Shampoo and Conditioner and Jergen’s hand lotion, which looked like they had been purchased from the Dollar Store.

The underground heated grotto pool looked inviting but the heater was broken so we couldn’t use it. We had brought a bottle of wine with us but there were no ice machines or ice buckets on the property that we could find so we had to buy a bag of ice in town. The next day, they made our bed and replaced our towels but they left our dirty wine glasses in the room and didn’t replace them with clean ones.

To top all of that off…we had made dinner reservations for Friday night for a really nice dinner ($55 per person) and when we showed up, the restaurant was closed and the chef had gone home. Unbelievable! Apparently the person who gave us the tour did NOT make the reservations for us like she said she would. We had told the Chef that morning at breakfast that we would see him that evening for dinner, but since we weren't on the books, he didn't know when to expect us. Why didn't someone call us or knock on our door to ask if/when we were coming to dinner?

At breakfast on our last day (we only stayed two nights) we were exchanging notes about our rooms with another couple who was in the bridal suite. They reported the same conditions and said their room was even dirty. They headed for the Hampton Inn after just one night.

When we got ready to check out, we had our list of complaints to report to management, but the Chef was the one who checked us out—none of the other help was there. We couldn’t believe it! At this point it was quite comical.

We had a GREAT time in Fredericksburg. Lots of quaint shops, great German food, and an Art show. But we will never forget our Motel 6 Quality/Service at Resort prices. We heard that the couple who ownes Trois Estates is getting a divorce. The wife's staying in their house (located on the property) and the husband is staying in the lodge. Guess they’ve just let the place go. Very sad because it is a charming place but definitely NOT worth the expensive prices!

Room Tip: Don't waste your money

“Almost 5 Stars”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

My now fiancé and I recently spent a 2nd weekend trip at Trois Estate. As with our first visit, the accommodations were excellent and the 5-course dinners and gourmet breakfasts were outstanding as well. Trois Estate truly is a unique and special place. As someone perfectly said in one of the reviews, don't expect the Taj Mahal. However, DO expect beautiful surroundings, wonderfully themed rooms, excellent food, a vast wine selection, courteous staff and creative touches throughout. Of course, you can't visit Trois Estate without going a half-mile down the road to hike around and to the top of Enchanted Rock. To be that close makes Trois Estate even more special. We liked Trois Estate so much the first time, I decided I would propose to my girlfriend there on this latest visit. It worked and she said "yes"! Since then, we've been hunting for the perfect place to host our wedding. And you guessed it... We decided we're going to have our wedding at Trois Estate. Rebecca Trois has been a joy to work with on the planning. She is very flexible, accommodating and a creative genius; full of great ideas.

You might be asking, "Why not 5 stars?" I titled this review "Almost 5 stars" because there are a few very simple items I would change I think would make Trois Estate a truly 5-Star experience and I expect to find these items in any high-end resort or B&B at the same price as Trois Estate that I visit. 1) Have hotel bathroom kits (with the mini-bottles of body gel, shampoo, conditioner and lotion) for each room. These will add that little extra touch of class and personalization the current off-the-shelf bottles just don't give; especially if they are monogrammed. 2) Refresh the bathroom linens and bathmats. The current ones look and feel tired. As with the bathroom kits, monogrammed bathroom linens would add that finishing touch. 3) Signs out on front of each room and facility would be nice. I always feel kind of lost and don't really know where everything is located. There is so much to explore on the estate. I'm curious to know what I'm looking at, where the other great rooms are located, and where to go.

That's it! Other than those things, I have no other constructive input. If needed, tack an extra few bucks to the room rates to recoup the expense of doing these things. No one would notice the cost, but they will notice these extra finishing touches.

Don't let my minor gigs keep you from visiting Trois Estate. Outside of those nitpicky items, it's a winner in every way! Again, we wouldn't keep going back and we sure as heck wouldn't have our wedding at Trois Estate if we thought otherwise. I hope you enjoy Trois Estate as much as we do. Cheers!

“Not what we expected.”

The Trois Estate looks AMAZING on the Web site, but in person it's a pretty place with a VERY strange feel to it. It's set up like an old desert village around the center "square" area where the restaurant is. My fiance and I came to the Trois Estate looking for a secluded night together to reconnect and it was definitely secluded but also pretty strange. Elvis, the cook/waiter/receptionist/manager on site was the ONLY staff member there to greet us when we arrived at 5 PM. The room itself was dark like a cave with a strange hot tub type whirlpool sitting in the middle of the room. It just wasn't at all like the Web site looked, as I'd read in other reviews. The good thing is the owner, Rebecca, was kind enough to refund our prepayment, as we decided not to stay there and found a spot in town at another B&B instead. She is kind and gracious.
