We were guests at a wedding near Fredericksburg the same weekend as the Fredericksburg Food and Wine Festival. So it was difficult to get a room. More on that later. In a roundabout way, we ended up with a room at the La Quinta. We checked in following the wedding ceremony. We'd booked through Expedia, so everything was already paid for. Check in took about a minute and a half, and the desk clerk confirmed that the room was already paid for, which was great. We went up to our room, a king no-smoking room. It was great! Very clean, nice bedding, beautiful bathroom full of granite, and the nicest towels I've ever seen in a hotel! Oh--the room also had a flat-screen TV. The bed was comfy--I slept just fine. The AC was great--you can set a desired temperature on it. One feature I really liked was the power outlets on the edge of the desk--so nice not to have to dig behind the desk or something for an outlet!!! We returned to the room at a relatively early hour (9-9:30), and we didn't notice any noise at all. We were up on the top floor. There was a pizza party going on down in the breakfast room, and we never heard a thing. And, by the way, the breakfast room was spic and span in the morning. Don't know if that was the staff or the guests, but it was sure a nice surprise! The shower in the room was probably the best hotel shower I've ever experienced. The shampoo was sub par, however. Make sure you remember your own!!! Breakfast was fine, I guess! My husband always has that duty; he didn't mention that it was bad, and the cinnamon roll I had was delicious!
The best part of this stay was provided by Expedia. I booked a room at the Best Western through Expedia. As I said earlier, there was not much choice of rooms in town because of the busy weekend. A day or two after I booked, I was called by Kris from Expedia. He was apologizing because they overbooked and we did not, in fact, have a room at the Best Western. I told him that neighboring towns wouldn't work for us, and he told me he would do whatever he could to get us a room. He called back about 30 minutes later and gave me the choice between La Quinta and a bed and breakfast. He also credited my card $25 "for your troubles," and we got a "coupon" to use on a future booking through Expedia. So we got a better room (which HE hunted down), money back, and money for a future trip! I will always be sure to use Expedia!!! :D
