Positives: our room was clean, the property was quiet because it's farther away from the main eating/shopping area (but at a convenient distance).

Negatives: the walls are thin so noise from adjoining rooms is noticeable, the TV in our room was tiny, the plumbing is old--the toilet groaned loudly with every flush, the shower was a bit dark (no light in the stall).

Not much to say about this place...it's an older property that's simple and small but maintained. It's fine if you don't require any amenities and if you don't plan to spend much time in the room. Two things that would have made the stay better: a refrigerator and wi-fi, but I would stay here again.

This is a wonderfull place to stay, rooms are very clean, owners are very helpful you couldn't ask for a cleaner motel, it's an older pace that takes you back to the fiftys or sixties but it is emaculate, if you get a chace do stay their you will be pleasantly surprised.

I have made many trips to Fredericksburg and had driven by this motel many times. I always noticed how well kept the property was but never stayed here. I have stayed at several different places in Fredericksburg, usually paying twice to three times what the Dietzel costs.
We made a last minute decision to take a weekend trip to see the bluebonnets and many hotels were booked so decided to try the Dietzel. Although it is an older motel, it is very well maintained and extremely clean. The property owners live onsite and were helpful and friendly. We called to say we wouldn't be arriving until 10:30 p.m. and although they close at 10:00 the owner stayed open until we got there. The view from our window to the back was a large field with trees and bluebonnets and in front of the hotel were adirondack chairs and a gazebo. It is a great value and we will be back.

This motel so reminded me of traveling with my parents and staying in the nicer motels of the late 1940s and 1950s. The room a little larger than what we see in today's hotel/motel properties, the room heating comes from coil type electric heaters, there's a friendly greeting at the front desk, the parking lot and the type of building were what you saw before Holiday Inn and the rest came along. However, this trip we knew we would be spending only nights at the motel and so the "out-of-the-way" location, rate and other TripAdvisor reviews fit our plans. The condition of the motel is good and a tribute to the maintenance by the owner. Beds were good, room was clean, no tub but a shower there, quiet at night (vacant rooms to either side of us) and a good restaurant within walking distance. Can't say we'd stay here again if we were in Fredericksburg because we're so used to Best Western, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton and kin but it certainly worked for us this trip.
