“Expectation Gap”

I stayed here for one night as part of a business meeting that my company was hosting. We wanted a location by the airport. Let me sum it up by saying...at least our clients don't think we are living the high life. The other reviews that talk about the size of rooms, dorm-room decor, etc. are accurate. Most important to me: bizarre smell, must walk through an outdoor (but covered) designated smoking area to get to the dining area, which is undeniably a cafeteria with trays, no wait staff, etc. Having said that, I only had breakfast there, and I had scrambled eggs, a bagel and coffee for $5 and it was FINE. I am not above bussing my own tray. Another plus--free wifi that worked well. All of the details to run our meeting went very well. The AV guy (we were using mikes, and recorded the meeting) was great. Shuttle drivers to and from the airport were great (ride took about 20 minutes), but there could be clearer instructions about how to get from the airport. All in all--it was cheap, seemed cheap, but serviceable. However, if you are looking for a pampering experience or want to impress clients or others, this is not the place for you.

Room Tip: If you have any physical issues, tell them. My room was a long walk from the lobby.

“Good stay at AATC Ft Worth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I joined 35 of my colleagues for 5 days of staff training at the AATC. The place as a blend of rustic and modern feel, built in the early 80's and in need of some refreshing. All in all a good place.
The staff were wonderfully helpful and congenial. Rooms seemed better than "retreat center" if not up to class A hotel. My bed was comfortable and the room nicely appointed. Meals were cafeteria style, but on the whole good variety and well prepared.
Our meeting space was a large, windowless room that served us well, although a few complained about the fluorescent lighting, which could have been shielded better.
The center provides a free shuttle to DFW and will take you most anywhere within a few miles radius on request.
I had nothing to do with the cost, but was told it was quite reasonable for our group.

“Might stay again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

I was at the hotel for a conference in early November. This was the hotel for the conference organisers hence why I stayed there.

Arriving at the airport I phoned the hotel to book a shuttle. The airport phones for hotels were broken so I phoned from my cell phone. The shuttle was due to arrive at 1015 but I phoned back to the hotel at 1030 as no shuttle. I thought I may have missed the bus but when it finally arrived at about 1050 the shuttle was obvious and distinctive.

WARNING - The shuttle bus is suited for people only. It is up steps with a narrow entrance. THERE IS NO LUGGAGE RACKS and if you are like me and have a large suitcase you need to sit in front row with the suitcase in the aisle. Luckily shuttle bus was never full otherwise impossible to get luggage on. Very surprised at this - seemed only hotel with no luggage space on shuttle buses.

Lobby and checkin were very nice. The staff throughout hotel were VERY friendly during my stay. However when travelling to room the corner pieces from walls has been removed to enable renovation of hotel, it looks very bad and put a damper on peoples views of hotel from outset.

The room was small by US standards but large enough by European standards. The room was clean and the bathroom was very clean. The room did have a slightly musty smell and the TV was very old and hard to get it to work.

I tried breakfast on first morning, it was not good. Felt like a high school canteen but lower quality. Understand it is primarily a conference centre but they would not pass for a hotel you would stay at when not a conference centre.

I think these are issues that will improve with renovations but due the hotels location I doubt it would be a destination for anything other than conferences.

Room Tip: I think most rooms are same, I was on 2nd floor.

“Dicey at best...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

Was here for a conference in early November and was not happy when I walked into my room. They are tiny and outdated. Old TV, small bed, musty smell...brutal. The faucets in my bathroom had rust on them and there was a big hole in the ceiling where a sprinkler used to be. My dorm room freshman year of college would have been an upgrade! This place is obviously where AA sticks their pilots and flight attendants when they are stuck in town overnight as I saw quite a few running around the place in uniform. If you're in town for a conference and all the meetings are around town and not AT the facillity itself, do yourself a favor and stay at an actual hotel. On the flip side, every interaction with the staff was nice, they have free wi-fi that worked well, and a free airport shuttle. Just don't think you're staying in an actual hotel room...like I said, think about your old college dorm.
