Being my first time at a LaQuinta, I cannot compare this one to others in the chain, but I can give some pros & cons and a summation of my experience.
Pros:
1. Very roomy - the rooms, lobby, breakfast area, the hotel itself, and the halls are surprisingly roomy. If you like to stretch your legs and like plenty of space - this may be your place.
2. Breakfast includes a Texas shaped waffle maker, cheerios, raisin bran, apple juice, orange juice, bagels, toast, yogurt, boiled eggs, coffee, milk, ice water, decent-looking muffins, fresh whole fruit, ect.
3. Beds are very comfortable, bedding is the soft , high thread-count most business travelers expect.
4. Internet is WIRED!
5. Nice work area with conveniently placed outlets and a comfortable chair in the room.
6. Windows open completely, so if it's a nice day you can let in fresh air (but no screen).
7. Outdoor pool is pretty nice - albeit somewhat small.
8. King rooms include a mini-fridge and microwave.
9. Towels are very soft and nice on the skin.
10. Plenty of convenient, free parking.
11. Excellent insulation - no noise problems at all.
12. There are ALOT of excellent restaurants nearby.
13. Price was right.
Cons:
1. TV's are not flat screen.
2. Decor is cheap and makes the room feel "cold".
3. Coffee, soap, shampoo & furniture are cheap.
4. Elevator is painfully slow.
5. Customer service is bare-bones. If you ask for something, they're happy to help -- but they just aren't terribly proactive. (I spent my first 30 minutes in the hotel trying to find my way around, and trying to locate the amenities. There was no guide in the room to help, and there also was not a phone book nor even a Bible!)
6. Common areas indoors are hot (not properly air conditioned).
Would I stay here again? Hmmm... it's not a bad hotel, but I admit I am spoiled and a flat screen TV, higher end soaps/shampoos, and higher end food items being available are more important to me than a lot of space and an outdoor pool, so probably not. But it just depends on what is important to you. I could see a family with small children doing really well here.
