“Decent Hotel for Business Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2010

I must admit that I was not impressed with this Residence Inn. While the room was clean the furniture was both worn and dated. Overall it was just not a very welcoming space to stay in. It is, however, in a good location for many restaurants and there is also a movie theater nearby.

For a 2 night stay I found this hotel sufficient but do not plan to return the next time I am in town. There are many other hotels in this same location to choose from.

“Enjoyable Residence Inn Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2009

Was a bit concerned after reading reviews of this property, but I found it to be a wonderful place to stay, very convenient to multiple restaurants and to my business trip which was at Meacham Field. When I checked in to the property they had be draw a fortune cookie from a jar. My " fortune was a gift certificate for $10 off dinner at TGIFridays and 200 bonus Marriott reward points. Front Desk staff was helpful and breakfast was complete and delicious. Even though this was a cool November evening, the Hot Tub and Outdoor Pool were open and the Hot Tub was great. Had to move pretty quickly to get back to my room before the ice formed though.....

“wish I'd read the other reviews first - roaches, spiders & no a/c”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2008

We needed to find a local place to stay for a few days after an accidental flooding in our house. With little time to book, I chose the Residence Inn. There was non-stop barking by multiple dogs in the room across the hall. (I have dogs- I either would not leave them unattended or I would hush their barking). The front desk told me that they couldn't do anything about the dogs because the owner paid the $100 fee - she did eventually try to contact the owners after she heard the barking as well. At first, our phone wasn't working for outgoing calls (fixed by front desk within 30 minutes). Then my son encountered a 2" roach roaming around the kitchen trash can. I called the front desk and they offered to move us. After moving all our belongings down the hall, and setting up the sleeper sofa for my son, I picked up pillows off the bedroom bed to place them in the nooks and crannies in the sleeper sofa to prevent injury from the metal on the bed and discovered small spiders on the pillows. I inspected the covers, sheets, under the sheets, and didn't find any more spiders. I was exhausted (i.e. not really in a position to seek and move to another hotel) so I put the pillows on the floor and proceeded to try to get some sleep shortly thereafter. I woke up around 3:00 a.m. and the room temp was between 85 and 90 probably from ambient heat from neighboring rooms and discovered that the a/c wasn't working - only blowing relatively warm air. Again, I was too tired and tried to sleep through it. I reported the spiders and the a/c in the morning (I had already been told the night before that maintenance was not on-site overnight). Maintenance charged the a/c and sprayed (with a little spray can) for spiders. We encountered a very large roach on the hall ceiling as well (I reported it to the front desk and they said they would write up a workorder - I know that roaches tend to live in colonies so where there's one (or two) there are many more. I know that management is probably well aware of the infestation as well as housekeeping and maintenance probably encounter them regularly. The front desk clerk offered a free movie to offset our issues which I ended up accepting on the 2nd night. Honestly, I normally would have moved after the 1st but I was dealing with the house stuff and just not into the spirit of making the move (and I wanted a place with a bedroom). When I checked out, I discovered the phone calls I'd made were 50 cents per call. It wasn't noted on the phone or any of the papers I'd seen around the hotel (and I therefore thought local calls were free). The front desk told me it was posted in the hotel info book (which I later found in the TV stand - not out on the desk or coffee table where you'd expect to find it). They agreed to reverse the charges (I would have used my cellphone for the local calls if I'd known they weren't free - although reception was bad). The internet connection in the room was also awful - seemed like dial-up - I couldn't get anything done. There was no management staff on-site for the weekend (after Christmas) and in the hotel's defense, I could have gone elsewhere. They did try to resolve the issues but I shouldn't have to deal with insects, poorly operating a/c equipment, etc. I definitely overpaid for the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is older, run down, and has some disgusting issues.

  • Liked — location close to home
  • Disliked — Everything: the hotel was pretty disgusting...

“Worst hotel experience in YEARS. Indifferent, incompetent staff.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2008

I stayed at this residence in for one week and had the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel. Had I not been forced to stay there b/c my boss chose the location, I would have changed hotels after the first day. My FIRST problem were the ants...

After seeing a few ants in the kitchen area on the first day I checked in, I called the front desk and asked that someone spray the area to prevent more ants. The next morning, I didn't see that a small piece of food fell on the counter before I left for work. When I returned from the office later, the small trail of ants had ballooned into a swarm. I call the front desk and ask why no one had sprayed the room. The front desk person looked at my "room record" and claimed that someone from maintenance visited the room that day. I told her that the room did not smell like bug spray and that the kitchen area was now swarmed with ants. She insisted she would send someone the next day. I made sure that I didn't leave any scraps of food ANYWHERE and rinsed all the ants I could find down the sink. Day two, three and four - no one sprayed my room, and the small trickle of ants continued. I called the front desk EACH day, and got the same response each time, "Someone will check tomorrow." I finally decided that the maintenance guy was visiting my room, not seeing any ants and then leaving without spraying, so I left some food bits out on purpose. FINALLY, on DAY FIVE of my stay at this terrible hotel (after FOUR DAYS of complaining), someone from the maintenance area ACTUALLY sprayed my room, but only after seeing the dozens of ants I attracted to the room on purpose. The ants were gone, but I could not believe that it took FIVE days to spray my room for ants, simply because the maintenance guy thought I was lying. HORRIBLE customer service.

BUT the problems don't stop there! The A/C vent in the bedroom blows freezing cold air DIRECTLY down onto the head area of the bed, right across your face. By the third day, I had a head cold from it. I had the thermostat set at a reasonable 75 degrees, but it didn't matter. The A/C unit would turn on EVERY FIVE MINUTES and run for barely 45 seconds, then turn off again. Days later, my head cold wasn't going away, so I closed the A/C vent in the bedroom. After I closed the vent, the cold air was gone, but the vent now made a really loud whistling noise when the A/C ran, which again, was every five minutes! So even after I stopped the cold air from blowing directly on my face, the air rushing up against the closed vent was so loud that I still could not get a good night's sleep.

If you think my problems ended there, think again. After (finally) checking out of this horrible hotel, in my rush to get as far away as possible, I forgot to get a copy of my final bill. So I call the front desk from home to have them fax it to me. I needed the bill to get reimbursed by my company. Someone at the front desk takes my info and says she'll fax the bill. Nothing. Day two, I call again. Again, someone promises to fax the bill. NOTHING AGAIN! Finally, on day three of trying to get a copy of my bill faxed to me, I even check my fax machine to make sure it's receiving properly and call the Residence Inn A THIRD TIME. I tell the front desk person that I've been trying to get a copy of my final bill for THREE DAYS NOW. She's very apologetic, and has me hold the line while she faxes it. For the first time in three days, my fax machine receives a fax from the Residence Inn. Unfortunately, my billing statement to my boss is now three days late.

This was easily the WORST experience I have had with hotel staff in YEARS, and I am now waiting on a call from the hotel manager so she can understand how disappointing my week-long stay at the Residence Inn was. I DO NOT recommend this Residence Inn to ANYONE. Yes, the accommodations were nice, yes the breakfast bar was ample, but the hotel staff does not take complaints seriously and repeatedly showed me nothing but incompetence. There are many other extended stay hotels in the immediate area. Stay ANYWHERE else.

  • Liked — Nice area, ample breakfast bar, wine and cheese at dinner.
  • Disliked — ANTS. Hotel staff would not, after many complaints, spray for ants.

“Sub Par Residence Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2008

I have stayed in dozens of Residence Inns and this is perhaps the worst one that I've seen. Most Residence Inn are very nice but this property needs some work.

My first room had a very bad ant problem along with other maintenance issues. The second room I had also had issues but at least no ants. The carpets appear to be new and the bedding is nice. The cable channel selection is really subpar compared to any other hotel. Compared to most hotels though this hotel is not so bad...just don't expect it to be as nice as other Marriots.

The staff here are marginally helpfull. I did not appreciate a call at 11:00 one night to see if I had checked out. Not only didn't I check out but I still had 10 days on my reservation. No one at the front desk calls when they receive Fed Ex packages. Some of them were sitting down at the desk for days before I knew I had a package.

In the mornings the breakfast area is frequently out of food. Most days there are many items that are gone. The garbage in the dining area usually needs to be over flowing before the staff will empty it.

Warning: The Fort Worth police every weekday have a speed trap on the access road in front of the hotel. The speed limit is set low and most days there are at least two-three cars getting tickets when I drive by. This speed trap was also here last year when I stayed at this hotel.
