“Do NOT stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2010

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The people who work there are very rude. I had to ask several times for someone to plung the toilet and was told I had to do it myself because there was no maintence person on site. I was told not to put toilet tissue in the toilet but there was not a bathroom wastebasket. They acted as if it was my fault that there plumbing is awful. The pool was full of bugs we asked for the net to remove some of the bugs because our 3 kids wanted to swim and they told us they would take care of it but they didn't. One girl who worked the frount desk at night actually rolled her eyes when we came in the door after a day at the beach as if to say oh no not these people agian. I Had to get my room key reactivated every time I wanted in my room and on one occasion I stood at the frount desk and heard the girl that was supposed to be working the desk on a personal phone call, She told whomever she was speaking with that they needed to hold on so she could take care of SOME lady that needed her. When she finally acknowledged me she asked me what I needed I told her that card was not working agian and she said "Well if you would not put it near your cell phone it would work" I told her that I did not have my cell phone with me all day and that the card was not near a cell phone. She said Oh well here is your card and went back to her personal call. Do not stay here I have a call into the main comfort inn office and they are not pleased either.

“What a great place to rest!”

I stayed here during Mexico's labor day long weekend and it seemed that all McAllen hotels were occupied... until finally we asked at another Comfort Inn and they kindly take us here. I am used to the Holiday Inn because they gave a nice discount so honestly I was a little disappointed at first because of the rates and because the hotel is not located on the highway or on the stores area, but the moment I entered the facilities, my perception changed. The Hotel is very cozy and comfortable, staff was attentive to all our needs, although there was only one person in charge of the front desk, so check in/out were a bit long. What I liked the most was the suites, they are big, clean, with a couple of sofas... the bed is awesome!,,, soft but firm, great pillows, very comfortable for a great rest after walking all day, maybe the room is a little dark because of the huge size. They offer a good complimentary small breakfast. Free parking. The Hotel is very close to the road to the Mercedes outlet and to south Isla del Padre. Great Hotel! Good value! I just wish it were closer to the 83.

regards.
I really appriciate your review. But I checked your profile from your email, I found you paid only 69.99 + taxes where as our rack rate is $89.99 + taxes . we upgraded you to suites and changed three rooms ,but you insisted only for 100% refund for all three days you want to stay. At last we end up in giving all two night complimentary which you alreday spent , but I really didnot expected that some body can take so much advantage of our 100% satisfaction guaranteed program and force us to let them stay free for they know they can get us by complaining to franchise system.

“Awful Manager - Unprofessional, Disrespectful & Slow”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2008
2

The worst check-in experience & largely due to a manager who wasn't even on the premises, & failed to exercise any professionalism, respect, or any customer service skills. He left the hotel to 1 employee to handle the check-in, take care of problems, answer calls, etc. - and she was not able to think on her feet, which can be attributed to either lack of training, lack of authority, or lack of common sense....Since she was unable to help us with our reservation, we asked to speak to Kamaldeep Gil, the "supposed" mgr. who proclaimed on the phone that he has several others properties he manages. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, & to come up with a solution to the very minor problem in the room reservations, this mgr. was arrogant, & says that if we weren't happy, to go to another hotel !....We were dumbfounded at his unprofessional response. He continued on with his explanation as to why our reserved room was not available, but all we really wanted to know was how he was going to rectify the situation - SINCE THE HOTEL HAD PLENTY OF VACANT ROOMS ! We left, & then they tried to blame the problem on choicehotels !
Unless this mgr shows more empathy to the customers' needs, and undergoes proper management training, stay away from this hotel, & go to the Best Western down the road, or even the Super 8. Kamaldeep Gil was arrogant, unsympathetic, rude & extremely unprofessional. He also needs to learn to listen FIRST.

(Note: we did have a friend stay at this hotel for 1 night, & they said that their hotel room, while large, was stuffy & had a stale smell. They had to get their own sheets because there was only 1 employee at the desk; the exercise room equipment was all in disrepair, and the bath tub plug was not working - unusual, as this was only suppose to be a few years old.)

“Great Deal for your $$$”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2008

I have now stayed at this hotel twice. I forgot just how big the bathtub is! It is large enough to bath a horse! (Well, not quite that big, but you get the idea) I stayed in room 219, a suite, and the size of the room is enormous! Almost unnecessarily big. The hotel breakfast is nice, not too fancy, but just right. I enjoyed hard boiled eggs, a wonderful fruit salad and they even had waffles!

The one thing that I will say about the hotel is the pillows - they are terrible! The are tiny and do not provide enough support for your neck. I had to use 2 pillows just to be comfortable.

Aside from the pillows, everything else was great! I also loved the fact that I could get a drink in the vending machine for only $1.00 rather than having to scrounge around for $1.25 or $1.50. Just using a $1.00 bill is wonderful!

  • Liked — Location, location, location
  • Disliked — The fact that I had to go downstairs to the breakfast area to be able to use my wireless internet.
