More hotel than bed & breakfast although the owners do live on-site. Set next to a historic movie theater and one block off the historic courthouse square, this historic hotel provides a better experience than the hotels on the interstate. Downtown Eastland is only a short mile or two off the interstate and provides an authentic small town Texas experience. Eastland is still working to revive its downtown with a performing arts theater opening in late 2010 but the downtown still has plenty of daytime activity. The hotel is tastefully decorated and nicely appointed without the overwhelming fru-fru sometimes associated with bed & breakfasts. The rooms are all reasonably sized and some are very generous with nicely appointed baths attached to each room. There is an elevator to reach the rooms which are located on the second floor. Parking is easily provided on the streets immediately adjacent to the hotel. There are not individual phones in the room but there is free wireless internet provided and cell service reaches the hotel along with televisions in the rooms. Drinks, snacks, fruit and dishes are provided free in the small kitchen area. There is an outdoor pool and a local hole-in-the wall cafe on the square offers a good inexpensive breakfast that beats the free continental breakfast bar at most chain hotels. No need to stay where the room looks just like the one the night before when your needs can be more than met at the Historic Eastland Hotel.
