“As an HGI, Quite Good. Not Much Around it, Though”
As far as HGI's go, this one excels. The bed borders on comfortable, the front desk service is prompt and friendly. The exercise facility is 24 hours. Showers are appropriate for those of size, though a bit short ceilinged for those of height.
The pool is outdoors, which renders it useless for four months of the year (and, as it turned out, the duration of my stay). The parking is adequate to excellent, as the hotel has an adjacent conference center. Breakfast and dinners are adequate.
As an HGI, this is pretty good. The location is lacking, as Duncanville doesn't have much going on. You are close to freeways 20, 35E and 67 while 30 isn't too far away. There is almost nothing adjacent in the way of restaurants or entertainment venues, so you might book something closer to your destination if the cost difference isn't significant.
One major negative is the internet connection. For heavy duty internet users, business travelers who need after hours remote access to systems such as myself, I'd recommend passing on this facility. The internet, particularly but not exclusively the wireless, ranged from inadequate to non-existent for the entire duration of my stay.
The only other negative that comes to mind is that housekeeping starts pounding on the door at least an hour earlier than they should, a significant detriment for late sleepers.
In sum, if you're in the area on a vacation and looking for someplace centralized, sure.
If you're looking to have a local convention and need the meeting space? Yes.
If you're looking to save some money over staying in Arlington on a family trip? Yep.
If you're a business traveler, pass.
Room Tip: To make the best of a bad wifi situation, stay on a lower floor.
