Stayed here for four nights. Was a bit weary after the overall negativity on Trip Advisor.

The lobby looks great, obviously after a renovation, clearly up to Westin standards. Yes, the rooms are still outdated, but the hotel claims they are next. The SPG floor I stayed on was still not that bad, yet clearly not renovated, nor up to other Westin standards. However, the room was still clean and comfortable.

The staff and restaurant personel could not have been nicer. the breakfast buffet was a winner. The free parking is diagonal from the hotel, next to the Bennihannahs.

Overall, a nice stay. Only about 15 minutes to downtown and the Convention center via 75. try to book the hotel via Hotwire for a bargain price.

We booked through Hotwire and got an excellent rate. We were in Dallas for a conference, downtown at the convention center and drove in each day.
The staff were all friendly. Check-in was a breeze. I asked if we could have a refrigerator in our room because my colleague needed to refrigerate her insulin. The clerk said no problem and placed us in a room with a refrigerator.
The beds were comfortable, and the room had a desk to work in and a large easy chair.
Perhaps it was because we were there on a weekend, but the place never seemed to be very busy, with only the lobby bar open during the evenings.
The location was nice, a quiet business area, with corporate offices near by. While they offered vallet parking and a parking garage (for a fee), we parked free in a lot diagonally across the street.

Because I book many hotels on Hotwire for the great prices, this review is based on the low price I paid. Had I paid the hotel's "rack rate" on their website, the review would have been 2 stars. But for $58/nt, it's pretty much the best deal you can find in decently Central/North Dallas for clean accommodations. Frankly, I think Starwood makes a mistake in branding these old, outdated hotels Westins. I remember not too long ago when a Westin meant something special and contemporary; now it seems to be their stodgiest brand, based on several recent stays in different cities.

The rooms' decor was rather shockingly 1980's. The curtains, with their dark red floral patterns, were laughable, as was the outdated sink, shower, and bathroom. The windows looking out were filthy; apparently window washing when out the door at some point in the 90's.

All of that said, the Starbucks in the room was nice, the staff was friendly, the common areas and parking clean. Didn't use the gym this time, and it's annoying to have to pay $12 for parking in such a parking lot of a city, and $10 for slow internet access is still a rub. But you can tell that they're just trying to get whatever extra fees they can, since they have to offer such low nightly room rates.

All in all, it beats the Super 8 or Travelodge experience, but not by much.

The place seems to be nice & updated especially lobby is wonderful. No problems at all during the stay except the shower which didn't had much pressure as expected according to the luxury hotel. Will stay again if visiting dallas.
