“Location is great, everything else is meh”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This hotel is in a great spot -- within walking distance of the convention center, great restaurants, JFK museum, and even the arts district if you don't mind a little longer walk. That said, the immediate neighborhood doesn't feel too safe after dark; I'd advise a taxi if you're travelling solo. For a hotel that averaged over $200/night with taxes & parking fees, we were disappointed in the quality of service. Bellhops & front desk staff were hard to come by. The cleaning crew was more like what you'd expect to find in a cheaper hotel -- room service trays left in the hallways for hours, alongside piles of housekeeping's dirty towels. The hotel bartender was the worst of it all -- she completely ignored anyone who didn't look like a single guy. Wear your fake moustache if you're a girl, hide your ring if you're a guy!

“Disappointed considering this was a Crowne Plaza”

The room I was assigned to adjoins another room through an inner door. Walls were so thin I could hear the TV and conversation in the other room. I called reception several times to complain and nothing was done.

Outside my window there was a glass filled with cigarette stubs, obviously, left unchecked and not cleared away.

As a Priority Club member, I got a welcome pack of nuts, water and free breakfast coupon. No other special treatment.

My colleague and I wanted to watch a rodeo and we were recommended a dodgy can driver.

Hmmm not much good thing to say except that the location was excellent.

“Good value, so so service”

I would recommend the Crowne Plaza Downtown Dallas, for it's value for money: good location adjacent to a DART stop. Within walking distance to all the major downtown sites: Sixth Floor Museum/Dealey Plaza, Convention Center, Arts District. Rooms are not luxurious but comfortable and clean. My one disappointment was that there really was no concierge and front desk did not seem to be helpful in some very basic questions on attractions etc. What the staff lacks in knowledge seems to be made up by their friendliness and enthusiasm. .Thrive restaurant has a good and inexpensive hot breakfast buffet, but I would recommend eating elsewhere for dinner: the food was okay but nothing special. Lots of choices nearby. I also had trouble with the shower....it never seemed to get hot enough. All in all it is not as glamorous as the new Omni or the nearby Magnolia, etc but for a good bed at a reasonable price, I would recommend it.

“Great hotel!”

We stayed here for 6 nights in Jan 12. Hotel and facilities were terrific, staff we're very helpful and the hotel bar and restaurant is a great place to hang out when not out exploring.

No issues arose during our stay, and it's within reasonable walking distance to the American Airlines Centre etc.

Only downside is the fairly dodgy little area within a block if you turn right out of the hotel and then take another right.

The hotel has a very busy nightclub on the ground floor on the weekends, which is great for some, not so great for others. Can get pretty noisy in the middle of the night, and loud drunken twits hanging about the front of the place isn't ideal. If your young and into clubs, this will suit you well!

I would recommend this place to most. But probably not older couples during the weekend unless you plan on being confined to your room after 10pm.

“Honestly.... NEVER AGAIN”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I am from Dallas, but I stayed at this hotel for New Years Eve so that I wouldn't have to worry about driving home after a night out. When I checked in, I was placed on a floor that appeared to be under construction (the floors had plastic wrap on them in the hallway). This was supposed to be a special night out so I was surprised to see the construction. BUT, it wasn't too big of a deal so I let it go.

Afterwards, we came home early morning to find that the elevators were broken. The firemen and police had surrounded the lobby. Long story short, we were forced to walk up 19 flights of stairs because our room was on the 19th floor. Keep in mind, we were in no condition to to be walking up 19 flights of staircase, especially in a nice dress and heels. Half way through, I took my heels off. The next morning I woke up with blisters on my feet. I know it wasn't the heels creating blisters because I wear them all the time, and have never had blisters from them. I am not one to complain but when I went to the front desk to get a lower discount, they took a measly $15 off my rate... My rate was originally $129. So I still had to spend over $100 for an awful stay. I thought it would have been fair to make my rate an even $100 but according the the FRONT DESK MANAGER - MANNY, that's all that they can do for me. This was a SLAP IN THE FACE. It's obvious that they truly DON'T CARE about their guests.

Room Tip: If you want to stay at a nice hotel near the the AAC.. go to the W hotel. You will LOVE it!
