Here's what we liked:
-Lovely lobby, quick, trouble-free check-in.
-Very nice, comfortable lounge area; everyone seemed friendly and relaxed. Full bar with an experienced bartender.
-Neat, modern rooms - a nice change of pace.
-Rooms are large - although not billed as suites, they are much larger than the typical hotel room, including fulled size couch and chair and a counter bar/table with stools.
-Comfortable bed.
-Some convenient features in the rooms, including mini fridge and swiveling flat-screen TV (easily viewed from bed or living area)
-Decent view and easy access to the Galleria mall.
Now, for the down side:
-Self parking is pretty expensive for what you get; small, barely secured, uncovered lot. There's no good place to leave the car when checking in, and the valet staff seemed disorganized and unprofessional.
-Staff at the desk seemed pretty indifferent about their jobs. It wasn't a warm or friendly welcome.
-The walls were extremely thin, creating noise problems even in our 10th floor, exterior room. Drunken patrons tromped up and down the hall ALL NIGHT and we heard every hoot, holler, shriek and giggle like they were in the room. Truly terrible night's sleep as a result.
-Furnishings and features were just too cheap to meet expectations for a 4-star hotel. Towels were large but cheap and thin. In-room coffee was very low quality and stale. Tables were made of painted plywood . No glassware provided - just a couple of dinky plastic cups.
-Bathroom needed a good cleaning. There was ground-in dirt in the high traffic areas of the floor and in the textured tub.
The location is good, as is the first impression of the hotel. Don't think we'll be back, though.
Room Tip: Ask for an exterior room if you prefer natural light!
