Checked in with a colleague after a long day, and were surprised to see the entrance of what looked like a cramped, badly tended and old B&B. We are very frequent guests of Homewood Suites in Miami, Tampa and Fort Smith, and it was hard to believe this hotel even belongs to the same chain - especially after stayng at the truly wonderful unit in Fort Smith, AR.
We had a couple of pretty simple requests: a of take out menu of any sort and a package that had been delivered . We were however told that there were no take out menus, and waved in the general direction of "a couple of blocks outside" if we wanted to get something to eat. Starving, at 11 pm, we tried to find something in the "Suite Shop", and were dismayed to find the choice consisted pretty much of macaroni and cheese, soda and a few candy bars... Also, no coffee of any kind in the thermos at the small coffee station, and papel cups with leftover food were left right next to the overflowing countertop bin.
After asking for a second key (we were originally only given one, to share I suppose), wegot to our rooms, noticing how incredily filthy the carpets and flooring, and how dangerous the few parts that seem to going trhough some kind of renovation looked.
At about 4am i finished my report for work, and went downstairs to see if I could at least buy a little bottle of milk .. No such luck: the lady in charge leasurely finished the meal she was enjoung in the middle of the dingin room, before finding out what I wanted, grabbed me some milk from the kitchen.,,
As a long time guest, here is one HWS that not only would I not recommed to anyone. Not only that, but this experience has made me aware I need to find out more about the hotels I request, and not blindly believe that the name "Homewood Suites" is garantee enought of quality.
Pity.
