Stayed for a Valentine Weekend at the Joule (Feb 11, 2012). It was a rather chilly weekend and the lobby was freezing but the decor was beautiful. Found the front desk staff to be very young and inexperienced IMO. We are SPG Platinum guests and we were not greeted as such. We were not upgraded either nor are the platinum amenities worth anything special like you would think at this type of hotel. The room was very upscale/classy and very quiet and comfortable. I've stayed at the Trump Soho and it reminded me a lot of that hotel but smaller in size and grandeur (bathrooms much smaller). The shower had the rain shower feature and there was a heavy frosted glass door for the toilet area for complete privacy. the lights were all set to dim or be bright whichever you prefer. Bose sounds system with remote. The room was nice even without the upgrade. The service was lacking for a luxury hotel like other reviewers have mentioned. The staff should be holding doors and welcoming you at all times. There's potential if they train their staff right.
They need to figure out how to warm their lobby when it's cold out - somehow get the cold air to blow out not in as it really was uncomfortably cold for all of us.
We ate at the Charlie Palmer Restaurant that is attached and it was upscale and sophisticated. While it was good I wouldn't go back. We were rushed out at the end of our meal.
It's just not quite 5 stars but still a nice stay if you are looking for modern, sophisticated touches here an there.
