“A fair deal at a modest hotel”

We stayed at the Best Western Cityplace Inn as we visited family in Dallas over Christmas. Overall the motel is a good value. Here are its good and not so good qualities.
Good:
1. Location - Just North of Downtown Dallas, the hotel is very convenient to all of Downtown, North Dallas and Fair Park. Easy in and out.
2. Staff - the staff and hotel manager were very nice and responsive to our requests
3. Best Western standard hotel room layout - a safe, a fridge, fabulous shower, well thought out floor plan.
4. Breakfast - A complete hot breakfast every morning is a great way to start the day.
5. $70 per day room rate.
6. Immaculately clean.
7. Very good Wi-fi and internet connection.
8. HBO
Not so good:
1. We saw a threatening man wandering around the parking lot at night. Needless to say, we did not feel totally safe in the very short walk from car to room.
2. We asked for and were give a late checkout of 1:30 pm so we could go to a family lunch, but it seemed to be a problem. Apparently, the hotel can easily accomodate a 1:00 pm late check out, but 1:30 caused a big disruption with the cleaning staff, even though the hotel was not full.
3. Not a great bed.
4. The towels were ok, but fairly thin and well used.
6. Television was old and did not have a great picture.

Room Tip: Request a room far from the sound of Central Expressway.

“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

Great value and location - only 15 mins walk to the McKinney trolley to get to downtown or 10 mins walk to the local metro station. Very friendly and helpful manager, Elizabeth Alfaro. The rooms were nicely furnished with everything we needed. Absolutely no complaints.

It was brilliant for tourists like us who had no car. There's also a very nice cafe with excellent food located next door.

We stayed for 6 nights and were very satisfied.

“Great value and very friendly staff”

I attended the Solar Power conference in Oct 2011. The conference hotels were very expensive: $200+/day. Instead, I opted to stay at the Best Western Cityplace Inn, a modest little hotel about 4 miles from the convention center. The cost was less than a third of what I would have paid at the conference hotels!

My first night was a bit rough, since my room was too close to the laundry machines. But the manager, Elizabeth, very kindly relocated me to a much quieter room. Overall, my stay was very comfortable. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The best thing are the staff, who are friendly and helpful, always greeting everyone with a smile.

Summary: This hotel is strongly recommended, but avoid the rooms next to the laundry room!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms next to the laundry room. Some rooms may also have more road noise.

“Good experience”

My husband and I were looking for a place to stay for one night after attending the State Fair of Texas. This was fairly close by (I think about 3 miles) and a great rate. We were exhausted after spending about ten hours at the fair. We were greeted with a very friendly girl at the front desk. We explained that we just wanted to grab a quick bite without traveling very far and hit the room! She told us of several places right on the other side of the highway, and there was a restaurant in on the other side of the parking lot that she recommended and supplied us with a menu. It was a bit pricey so we opted for going across the highway. We were pleased with our King room. It was clean and inviting. The bathroom was a bit small - it was fine for one night, but would get old after a week's stay. The only complaint I would have if any was the noise. We had a group next door to us that hung out outside the room chatting. Also a HUGE pickup truck right outside our door that cranked up at 5am and rattled the windows! The lobby area for breakfast was also very small. Just a few tables so if you don't time it right for breakfast, there is nowhere to sit. Overall, we were pleased with the friendliness of the staff, the location and the cleanliness of the room. Would definitely stay again for an overnight or couple night stay.

“Brilliant position but sloppy housekeeping.Would recommend but check cleanliness.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Stayed here for 3 nights at start of a road trip. Hotel obviously a motel bought by BW and upgraded and in really good location for State Fair and downtown (park at McKinney for free and get free tram) breakfast good but bed linen dirty and didn't get changed after first request. Safe didn't work either and not fixed despite asking twice.
