The Homewood Suites of College Station was a disappointment. Most Homewood Suites I stay at are kept up fairly well and the staff is very hospitable, but this hotel was not up to Homewood's standards. The evening reception in the lodge had very little to offer. The only food that looked somewhat appetizing was the salad. The drinks available during the reception were some wines in a pitcher, tea, and water. When I asked if sodas were available for guests, one of the staff said soft drinks were for purchase at the front desk for a fee. All other Homewood Suites offer some sort of beverage for children besides water. The 2 Queen bedroom we booked was not nice. The sofa was faded, the bathrooms had peeling wallpaper, and the tub hand rail was broken. The sofa bed was uncomfortable and completely flat. The breakfast was early and short, from 6 to 9, way to early for leisure travelers. At 8:55, almost the entire breakfast was put away. The only thing available was juices and water. I saw a waffle maker, but their was no batter to cook with. I have no problem with the age of hotels, it is the fact the staff is letting this hotel detearate is the reason why I would not return in the future.
