The wife and I made reservations here while visiting family in the area. Having severe asthma, I specifically asked for a "non-smoking room" and on check-in, got one that was so tobacco filled, it was like smoking without lighting up. The furnishings were worn, stained (thought clean), but the A/C was barely able to handle the heat and humidity. I was told on check in that we would be switched the next day, then that morning told to come back after Noon, and at 12:05 told that nothing could be changed, 'too bad" about my asthma and request for 'non-smoking' room, and that I would be charged for an extra day, even though we were checking out, and the room hadn't been made up, etc. The staff (all extended family, from what we were later informed) was very inflexible, didn't seem to understand, or try to understand how the smoke exacerbated my asthma, and seemed to treat us as if we were some sort of 'trailer trash' who just was slumming there for a week. The other problem was that the beds were very old, and both the wife and I discovered that we were both not well rested after sleeping on a very 'tired' mattress that should have been changed years before. This hotel seems to cater to the transient workers coming in for a few weeks at the refineries, and as a result doesn't seem to think the customers are much to worry about. There are many much better hotels in the immediate area, and I would strongly suggest you frequent one of them rather than this hovel. Given all the problems with this place, I'm surprised the health department allows them to stay open without significant changes!
