Our experience at La Quinta in Lake Jackson Texas left much to be desired. We have been staying at La Quintas for years as our default accommodation but we have noticed a degradation in quality over the past few years. The latest experience was the last straw – we will never stay at a La Quinta Hotel ever again. We checked into our room walking past the dried blood and other mystery dried (body?) fluids, past the ancient cigarette butts, the dried animal poop,cans, bottles and various other trash to find no lights in the bathroom and no one available to repair. (how do the maids clean what you can't see?) We then changed rooms 4 times total because of 1) no hot water 2) no lights 3) it was a smokers room – we don't smoke and then cleaned and wiped surfaces in the fourth room – they were filthy. We would have left but we had to be at a funeral in 30 minutes so we were stuck. The good thing – the management was new, trying to “turn things around” and was nice and tried to be accommodating but still the place should have been closed and totally remodeled or at least thoroughly cleaned. Stay Away.

I will never stay at this hotel again. Room was decent, good TV, wireless internet, fridge and microwave. However, upon returning back from dinner there was a car full of drunk kids who backed into a truck in parking lot. Driver got out, fell flat back hitting his head, with the girlfriend screaming he crawled back in and sped off. Then looking around there seemed to be a good number of seedy characters around the site. After the manager came out and swore at some other residents and threatened to through them out, he stopped by our room and apologized saying it usually isn't this bad and said he was going to call the police. However, the clear signs around the parking lot stating that they are not responsible for stolen goods or damage and the long security description in the room information sheet about locking doors, locking up valuables, and not displaying any valuables when entering rooms all point to many past issues.

Nice, clean motel. Only problem was that there is a house about a half a block away with very loud dogs. They can see the property and every time someone goes in or out of the motel they bark. Not too good for a good nights sleep, but you always know if someone is outside. Other than this the place was very clean and the staff was exceptionally helpful. Don't stay in the rooms facing Lazy Lane and it will be fine.

Hotel was modest, clean, torn carpet, two used, washed?, kleenexes under the bedspread. BUT the grounds were neat, well groomed, lots of grass and the staff was friendly. Terrible odor outdoors in the morning which dissipated with a moderate breeze. ( What else would one expect near "Oyster Creek" and the chemical plants?) Will stay again as we have two little pets and the loction was ideal for our business trip. The continental breakfast was what La Quinta advertises. Good value for the local competeing prices and locations.
