I found myself stuck in Brenham over the weekend without 4g service on my phone. It was late, and I had been drinking, so you can imagine my chagrin when I found I had no way of finding a place to stay in the town. I was at the bowling alley and the place next door was advertising rooms for 32$ a night... so I passed on that and finally remembered I could text Google. A couple of hotels came back and I started calling. Now, I have a rule that I generally only stay at Hilton because of my airline miles/points, so that was my search. All I found was a comfort suites. Comfort suites is part of Choice Hotels whom I'd stayed with at Mardi Gras last year, and had sworn to avoid at all cost... but I still had my Choice Hotel points card in my wallet...
Apon arriving to the hotel the receptionist was nothing but nice, the hotel was empty so she even discounted the outrageous sum of $120 down to &89.99, which was STILL too much for a budget hotel. She also upgraded us to a "master suite" free of charge. We got our stuff and checked out the room. Everything was neat and clean, the hotel it self was a little older, but given how spotless it was, that could be over looked. Like all suites the room came with a fridge, microwave, and coffee/tea. My only issue is that the night before I stayed at the Hilton College Station for less money and had a much much nicer room. So, I still felt ripped off.
The next morning the breakfast was set out so we grabbed a plate. The sausage had zero taste, and the eggs and cheese "omelets" tasted like glue. The biscuits had a strange consistency, so I felt even more ripped off since the extra money spent to stay here, clearly wasn't going toward the breakfast. All in all it was a decent place to lay my drunk face, but if I'd had 4g service ( shaking my finger at you t mobile) instead of edge, I would have stayed elsewhere, especially for the money.
