I've seen others trash this hotel pretty badly in reviews and, I'm happy to say, my wife and I had a better experience. This starts in part with expectation. The hotel is run by a middle eastern family. This is fairly common in Texas small towns. They work hard and save a lot on labor costs by living on the premises and doing away with front desk employees etc. The tradeoffs: less customer service......better prices.
The hotel is a little dated, but not too bad....especially for the price....we paid $50.00 total for the room. It was clean and very spacious. There was a coffee pot and a microwave in the room, and an alarm clock....which was nice because they forgot to punch in my wake up call. The water pressure is a little low, but plenty of hot water and nice towels. The premises were well lit and we felt like our car was secure. The bed was comfortable and had six pillows. There was a couch and a work desk in the room.
The wireless internet is free and the cable featured three free pay channels. They had a little laundry room on site and took at least a stab at a free breakfast. In order to enjoy the breakfast, you pretty well need to be content with a bowl of Raisin Bran or Rice Krispies or a slice of toast...it was not an impressive effort, but it was enough to hold me over until lunch.
I think it does enough to earn a two star rating instead of a one star plus. I would stay there again.
