I stayed at the GRR with my boyfriend at the time. We had a very quaint cabin with a wooded creek view (although the creek was dry - they hadn't had any rain in months). The room had stone tiled floor and a very comfortable bed.
The Pros:
The bed was comfy
The location was perfect
The ambiance
The deer that eat out of your hand
The Peace Pole
The Hiking
The River is accessible from resort
They give you stuff to make S'mores each night you're there by the campfire
The restaurant had excellent food
The spa was super-duper nice
The massage was relaxing
Just miles from "The Cave with No Name" - worth the trip
Very quiet and serene
While tubing we were the only ones for a long time - it was so peaceful
The Cons:
Having to walk up 18,000 stairs to get from the river back up to the resort, which isn't so bad but you're exhausted from 3 hours of tubing and still have to carry your cooler up with you.
The guy teaching the yoga class didn't know we were coming, we got there and he was ironing his shirt - I had anticipated a real Yoga class, nonetheless we compromised and had a 30 minute class with him
(having nothing to do with the resort) - The water level was so low that our rear ends were constantly bumping the bottom of the river - it was probably not a good time to tube - it was still peaceful and mother earth was beautiful in her natural state
I'd stay again in a heartbeat!
