When we checked into the Super 8, I was impressed. It was a really nice, big, clean room- complete with microwave, fridge, and hair dryer. It seemed like a really good value at $50/night. The breakfast is also good, as they aren't afraid to tell you. Texas- shaped waffles were the highlight. The problem is that even though there weren't that many guests staying at the hotel, they seemed to book us all in rooms close together. One morning we woke up to a car alarm right outside our room. The next night- and this it the major complaint- we were woken up continually throughout the night by doors being open and shut on the floor above us. Yes, it was annoying that this group of people, for whatever reason, found it necessary to open and close doors frequently throughout the night but it really wouldn't have been an issue if the hotel were constructed in a way that the whole building didn't shake whenever a door closed. We woke up at 12, 2, 3:30- it was the worst night of sleep I had had in ages. If we were staying another night, I would have asked to move rooms. There are better options in town.

Arrived at 5:00PM and my reserved room was not ready. Told to wait 1/2 hour. Came back at 5:45PM and they were not finished. Cleaning staff left door open and the room was full of flies. Large gap under door and it did not shut fully unless pushed. The whole room shook on the 2nd floor anytime someone closed an outside door in the building. A/C units condensation had containers, but they were not emptied before they overflowed. Pool has not been cleaned/maintained (green algae). Breakfast was pretty good. Staff indicated that there is a large turnover in housekeeping. This property is in desperate need of new management.

We were looking for a place to stay just east of Midland/Odessa so we thought we would try Big Spring. This hotel was a former Comfort Inn or Suites. Work has been done since the recent changeover. Some of the bathroom fixtures could stand to be updated. The door frame on one of the doors seemed a bit shaky. The second night we stayed there, people on the second floor above us stomped around much of the night.

The linens were fairly new. The rooms had micro/fridges.

Bothered me to be called 35 minutes before checkout time to remind me when checkout time was - never had that happen before.

Breakfast area was very spacious with a good selection and an attentive staff member who kept the breakfast bar well-stocked both times we came through this past week. Popcorn available in the lobby. Competitive prices. Pool may have been covered for the winter.

I stayed here of necessity, and was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, the door had great locks and the beds were comfortable. There was no hot water that night, the plumber was working on it when we left, but we were given a nice discount because of it. I can't fault anything. Will definitely stay there again.
