“The ABSOLUTE WORST MOTEL - Do Not Stay Here....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2010

My husband and I reserved a room for a couple of nights at this place last summer.
We drove down from N. Texas and got there around 9pm....

There was no one there......we called and had to wait for about 1/2 hour on a hot summer night for the "caretaker" to come back from where ever he might have been.
Then we get the room and it was incredibly hot. I mean the walls were hot, the tile in bathroom was hot....it was unbearable and the a/c did not work.
There was filth of some unknown origin between the nightstand and bed.

We left around midnight to drive closer into town for a room that actually had working AC.

It was that miserable - after a 7 hour drive, waiting for the front desk to show - we left.
Here's the kicker.....they would not refund us for a night we did not stay. The a/c was not working in July - in south Texas!

Do not stay here. Heed my warning......Unless you don't mind sleeping in an oven in July. It had to have been close 100 degrees in that filthy room.

I would not recomment this place whatsoever to my friends or even to people I don't like.

For the same money you can stay at a chain hotel with working a/c and clean rooms. Don't waste your time or money staying here.

“dog stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2009

I want to thank Loblolly Pines Village for allowing my dogs to stay at their resort for 9 days. We were there to compete in the "Masters National Retrievers Final". There were alot of us staying there with our dogs. The staff was accommodating as to our needs.
Most of us came in until elimination, so their normal 48 hour notice of cancellation policy was tested. My friend was able to leave earlier than her reservation was stated for and they refunded her days left , not imposing the 48 hours. They were very gracious when seeing how many dogs were on the premises. The rooms were CLEAN and the grounds are beautiful. Thanks again, we will stay there again in 4 years when the Nationals come back to Texas.

“Bring a Fly Swatter”

Read the paperwork. They want 48 hours notice for cancellations. Getting a refund if a trip is cut short is impossible, they keep the next 2 days rent if you change your mind... even at 11am the day after you discover your regrets...

This is an interesting business model. Say you spend the first night, of 2 or 3, but regret it. You try to leave, but they want 48 hours notice. So no, you must stay 2 more nights or lose money. hum... now you are committed to this mess for 3 days!!!

How many people wake up after day 1, depressed at the flies, the bad AC, the thin polyester sponge blanket and sheet, old bedspread and rug and the weak shower head.

You consider the newer hotels in area, but now, with the 48 hour rule, realize your one day room that cost $75.00, now cost you at least $180 extra if you leave after one night!!! This cesspool now becomes your most expensive night of your vacation.

So, before you commit to staying here more than one night, ask to see the room, read the paperwork carefully and pay one day at a time.

We were soo happy to drive away... I wish we could forget the bad experience as fast as we drove... my regrets....

“Business plan: 48 hour refund policy, gottcha clause...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2009

48 hour notice needed to extract yourself... or they keep 2 days rent!!! Imagine you pay with a credit card, thinking you want to stay for 5 days. When you find out you are needed elsewhere in 36 hours, you try to get a refund for the unused three days. . they hold back the rent for next 2 days because of a 48 hour refund policy...no excuses.

We left, after having a blow out in the office, as they refused to refund the credit card for one night's rent and all the taxes for three nights. We were going to stay one more night, but decided to cut our losses and leave altogether. In life, you have time or money... we gave away the money...to begin enjoying TIME in a CLEAN updated motel, anywhere else... We left the keys in the empty room at 5pm, and drove away toward Austin, and found a peaceful night in a clean hotel.

It is easy to stay open, and never change the carpets in 10 years, or put hooks in the bathroom, or update it at all....I just felt dirty touching anything.

First, the flies.., the cheap shower head, that had the restrictor so tight, it was a thin fine spray of water. No hooks for your clothes, you have to put your clothes on the floor. Tub has the aged plastic stick-ons that are brown from age. The AC barely works, it is 3 inches from floor, so you stand on your head to adjust settings, with a flash light. The rugs are sooooo old, and almost shaggy... how filthy can they be? I just just felt creepy here. I paid $75 for all this. I eventually left, and moved into a Holiday Inn Express in Fredericksburg TX for $80 a night, wireless DSL, free breakfast, 2 clean beds, ultraclean bathroom, gift bag of goodies, kind words, good AC , Nice TV, CLEAN!!! KIND... and only need 24 hour notice to cancel.

It is a shame that a motel needs to have a 48 hour refund policy to make a profit on the people that regret spending the first night here.... REALLY, how many daily hotels have a 48 hour refund policy??

It had one small round table... where do you put your stuff??

Just pay one day at a time, to avoid the 48 hour regret clause.

“Do not recommend”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2008

We made our reservations three weeks in advance. Based on the photos and outdoor amenities listed and that their were suites available we chose this place to stay rather than at a chain hotel. We also confirmed we would be able to check in by noon as we needed to get ready prior to attending an event that afternoon. Upon arrival we were told that the hot water heater that connected to our rooms was broken and they were in the midst of repairing it. Therefore, we ended up having to check in to other rooms (in the original and older section of the motel) so we could get ready. Both rooms were upstairs and we had two senior citizens with us that had a difficult time managing the stairs. The rooms are very small. The bathroom is most adequate for a child only. It is so tiny an adult cannot turn around in it. The rooms desperately need to be updated. There are no phones in the room and the TV is mounted on a wall that gets only a couple of channels. When we went to get ice from the machine that evening there was none available. There was no inside lock to our room. The room also did not have a thermostat that we could locate. The cafe hours are not for early morning travelers as they do not open until 9 a.m. and they do not offer dinner. There are no electrical plugs around the vanity. The remote to the TV did not work. The faucets were difficult to turn on in the shower. The walls are paper thin as I could hear the entire conversation and movement made by the people next to us. I will not recommend tnis place to anyone.
