My wife and I decided at the last minute on 4th of July weekend to make a quick "getaway". She found the Magnolia Inn through some B&B website...so whatever the wife wants, the wife gets (you guys know what I mean). After a 4 hour drive to Bastrop we pulled up in front of this grand old home...it is beautiful.Let me state right here that I am not particularly fond of B&B, I prefer hotels, but immediately upon entering the home I was quite taken back with its "you're at home" feel. Paula, the owner, showed us around and pointed me towards the complimentary vodka & tonic (lord knows I needed one after the drive from Ft Worth). Our bedroom was a bit on the small size (as was the bathroom) but what the heck we weren;t planning on staying inside for much (just a noe night trip). The bed...OMG, the bed...had a 4 inch memory foam mattress. I slept better than I had in months. It was so quiet I awoke a couple of times during the night and wanted to get up and make some kind of noise...the quietness was almost unsettling. The grounds around he home are beautful...if the weather hadn't been so doggone hot (100F) we would have sat out near the garden.
For breakfast Paula made French Toast with blueberry cream cheese filling. GREAT! It was so wonderful and it almost melted in your mouth. Yes, I got the recipe.
I would highly recommend this B&B. It is lovely, the owner is super & friendly, the breakfast is to die for. Yep, should we decide to return to Bastrop we will definately sta there again.
