“Cute mountain cottage, great for business retreats”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stayed in one of the cottages located next to the main lodge. The bed and linens were extremely comfortable, and the cottage itself was very spacious. The only drawbacks to the cottage were that the lighting was poor, and there was no curtain on the bathroom window. There were no other cabins or cottages facing my bathroom window, but someone standing far enough away in the woods would have been able to see me, which made me uncomfortable. The continental breakfast the next day was very good (quiche was included that morning) except that the bread they served was too large for their toaster. The staff was excellent and very attentive. I stayed here for a business meeting, and the property was perfect for a mid-size work group. I would recommend this location for business meetings.

“Romantic getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

My husband and I enjoyed our second winter getaway to the Dancing Bear Lodge. The cabins are just perfect for a day of relaxing in front of the fire. The standalone cabins are spacious and have all of the appointments we needed - we stayed in a luxury cabin. We didn't try the jacuzzi on the porch but it was on and ready to be used. The breakfast is adequate -- I just wish it went later than 10:30 (maybe 11:00?). The Lodge is very near the Cades Cove loop in Smoky Mountain National Park -- we made that drive last year and it was just lovely on a snowy winter's day.

“Loud! More a restaurant than an an inn.”

If you go do not stay in the main lodge. Restaurant noise made from locals makes guests feel like they sre staying in a dorm.

We are sorry the restaurant noise disturbed your experience. The restaurant is a festive place nightly with great food and drink where both our guests and locals come to enjoy the evening. Although we have 12 rooms in the lodge and many of our guests love the atmosphere of the lodge, we also have 17 secluded cabins throughout our 36 acres. We hope you will return and be able to enjoy both the privacy of your own cabin and the dining experience.

“Dancing Bear Lodge is THE PLACE to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Everything was wonderful from the time we checked in to the time we checked out. We stayed in the lodge and it is so beautiful. We received top of the line service from the employees and they were also very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Our room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. The breakfast each morning was great and we were so surprised that it even included homemade quiche -- and the fresh fruits and jellies and jams were so delicious. Dancing Bear Lodge is THE PLACE to stay when visiting the Smokey Mountains!

“Peaceful cabins”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

We stayed overnight at this friendly, relaxing lodge prior to beginning our vacation at nearby Blackberry Farm. Our luxury category cabin was excellent -- outfitted with a very comfortable bed, leather chairs, wood-buring fireplace (though the August weather was too hot and humid to enjoy it or the jacuzzi on the private porch), modern bathroom and kitchenette. Surrounding the cabins is a trail through the woods, nice for walking our dog. Dancing Bear warmly welcomed our vizsla Henry with prior notice and a reasonable fee (bring your own crate, bed and bowls). The centerpiece of the property is a beautiful Montana-style lodge with a deck for outdoor dining. The food was really good -- creative (a fresh tomato and greens salad topped with fried okra) and well prepared (duck with grits, tea-brined pork tenderloin with succotash). The wine list is well-selected and fairly priced. The cocktails are good, but pricey for this neighborhood (margarita same price as in Manhattan). Finally, for what the dinner service lacked in polish, was made up for in warmth and friendliness. The lodge is convenient to the Cades Cove section of the Smoky Mountain NP offering great hiking and biking trails. Dancing Bear is a good choice or on its own or a perfect combination with a Blackberry Farm getaway. We will return, likely in the autumn when we can enjoy the colors of the season and cooler weather. Thanks Melanie and team.
