“Great experience and value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Our group consisted of 2 adults and 4 boys aged 5-9. We stayed in the 1 bedroom suite which was a perfect size for our group of 6. The kitchen was well stocked (aside from a coffee maker that did not work but was promptly replaced). The price of the condo was very reasonable and affordable. The indoor water park was fairly small but it made it very easy to keep up with kids and they played for hours on the 2 water slides, 2 pools, and hot tub. The water park area was very clean and well-maintained. Also, enjoyed the sauna. We checked out at 10am on a Sunday and came back later in the day to inquire about using the pool as the weather had turned cold and rainy. The front desk reactived our door keys to allow us to use the pool even though we had checked out--- they were super friendly and advised you can use the pool all day the day of your check in and check out. Great experience! We honestly were not expecting much for the price but were very pleasantly suprised.

“Holiday trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We traveled the day after Christmas for a few days. This is a great hotel. Very nice employees at check-in. We had a king suite, it was very nice, everything was as described and more. Very clean inside the room and out. They have a indoor water park that the kids loved. Even gave us coupons for free pancake breakfast to a local restaurant. Will certainly stay here again.

“Economical Condo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We booked this condo online with a "name your price" amount. I put in what I thought was a very low amount for a nice condo. (based on prices that I saw for other condos). The amount was declined but the came back with a counter offer that was still very reasonable and considerably lower that others that we looked at. We were very please with the room. It had two bedrooms, a living room, and a full kitchen with all amenities. The resort has a indoor pool and water slide. Everything was clean and the rooms were very quiet. My only complaint was that the employees at the front desk were not real friendly. No greetings while entering or leaving... just a look. I can deal with this for the price difference! The location was great if you plan on visiting Severville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlingburg. Plenty of restaurants and shopping near by.

Thank you for having chosen to stay at The Resort @ Governor’s Crossing. Being able to provide clean, safe, comfortable accommodations is something we take pride in.
Something that is perplexing to me is your comments regarding our front desk staff. We have received many positive comments on Trip Advisor and other web sites regarding their friendliness and professionalism, as customer service is stressed in our training programs. We apologize for your displeasure and will be addressing this with our staff.
Again, I would like to thank you for staying with us and posting your comments.

“A Delightful Christmas Weekend”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

My family and I took a three day family reunion at the Resort at Governor's Crossing over the Christmas Holiday. This location is full of a lot of good things, and some that need a little work. First of all, I enjoyed the two bedroom condo, with six people, that we stayed in with two bedrooms, baths, dining area, front room, and full kitchen. The room was clean, and offered a total of three tv's so there was never a time of fighting over the remote! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes spacious rooms, and enjoys water parks. This location features an indoor water park, with two water slids, a large hot tub, kiddy pool, and moderate sized pool. The pool is accessable from both buildings. The entrance way to the pool area is rather cold due to there being any heating. This is bad especially when you are done with swimming and you need to walk down that 30 ft hallway with yourself being wet. But that is just a small inconvience. We found that the entrance door of the building was broke half the time we were there, so sometimes you could walk up to the door and just pull the door open, and other times you would need your key. The other entrance door would only open from the inside, and would not open with or without a room key. This is more of an inconvience than anything else. This building only has two elevators and from time to time it took a while to use them. I found the internet connection to come and go, with poor signal. When I could stay connected, the speed was very good. I verified this not being an issue with my computer due to my smartphone doing the same thing. There was many things for me to do, so not a real dissappointment. No Breakfast!

Thank you for having chosen The Resort @ Governor’s Crossing during this past Christmas Holidays. Many guests (especially during holidays and long weekends) enjoy our multi bedroom units due to their size, full kitchens, plus other added amenities.
In your review on Trip Advisor you mentioned a problem with the key card readers; we have received some replacements from the manufacture, so hopefully this issue has been resolved.
We appreciate your having stayed with us and for posting your review of The Resort.

“Decent condo; Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

We just returned from a 2 day holiday stay at the Resort at Governor's Crossing. In general it was an excellent stay. Everything you've read in other reviews regarding an awesome location and staff is spot on. You simply couldn't ask for a better location. It's close enough to everything going on that you're minutes away from it all. The staff is excellent. Check-in and Check-out was effortless and quick. We were even able to upgrade our reservation from a 2 bedroom unit to a 3 bedroom unit with no hassles.

The kitchen of the unit has all major appliances (stove with oven, microwave, dish washer, refrig). Plus the frig had a working ice maker. No more trips in your pajamas going to find the ice maker on the up-teenth floor. A garbage disposal would be a nice addition. The kitchen was clean and tidy upon arrival.

The main living area is connected with the kitchen area. You have a simple 6 person dining table. Then you're into the main seating area with two couches and two chairs along with the entertainment center. A door to one of the two balconies is just off the main living area. The entertainment center includes a LCD TV (32 inch maybe) and a DVD player.

The three bedrooms are all pretty much identical in this configuration. One sits on one side of the kitchen and the other two are opposite the kitchen. You have a full bath with either a tub with shower or just a shower. The bedrooms have two queen beds along with standard storage and a 32" TV.

The grounds around the resort were clean and well maintained. There's plenty of parking and the parking lot is very well lit up at night, which is a very nice touch.

While we didn't have time to enjoy the water park area of the resort, it looks very nice. There's three different pools outside and a large indoor poor area, complete with two slides. I'll let the other reviews give you detail on all that. Maybe we'll check that out next time.

Here's my list of issues/problems we had during this visit:

1) Its really difficult to regulate the heat through the unit. This is our 2nd stay at this location and both times we were displeased with how the unit heats and cools. There are two HVAC units for this configuration. One thermostat I guess is for the first bedroom and kitchen and the second unit is for the two bedrooms. In this configuration you're left with one room being comfortable while the other is miserable. We were hot during the day in the living room because of cooking in the kitchen, so much so that we had to open the door to the balcony to let in cold air (which we didn't like since we have young children) and at night one of the bedrooms was freezing (the one without its own HVAC unit).

2) (AND THIS ONE IS A BIG ONE IF YOU HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN!!) There's no swinging lock at the top of the main door to keep young kids in your room. There's only a deadbolt lock on the door and that's all. If you've got young kids like we do, especially those children who want to explore, this can be a serious issue!!!!! One moment they are there, the next they are half-way down the hall talking to a stranger. I would hope that the management of the resort reads this and corrects this issue. Such a simple and cheap issue to resolve and you would be making parents of young children so much happier to stay in your unit!!! Also the same style of locks on the door leading to the balconies would be nice.

3) The DVD unit in the main living area is a seriously cheap unit. We were unable to play any of our disks while there. It would play for a moment then freeze. It wasn't a big enough issue to call the front desk but worthy of note here.

4) This one is a minor thing but it's something that always irks me. The fit and finish of the tile work in the bathrooms is horrible. It screams that whomever was the contractor doing the tile work they didn't care or were under time pressure (which I'm sure they were). Rough edges, incomplete mortar joints, bad cuts, etc. I would have hoped that the management responsible for the construction of the unit would have had higher standards for the contractors building the unit. If the standards for the tile was this low, it makes you wonder about what the standards were elsewhere in the construction. I'm a guy and I think about these types of things. I'm sure most ladies never have it enter their mind. Little things like this make an indelible impression in someone's mind about a unit.

5) Several people we encountered were mumbling about the card reader for the door lock on the right hand side of the unit with 3 bedroom units. Sometimes the card reader would work and grant you access, sometimes not. We found ourselves standing there at one point sharing 'tips and tricks' with 3 other families regarding how to get the blasted thing to work. It completely started failing on reading our cards on our last day and we relied on others to let us into the unit while we were packing the cars.

6) Mold is present in the tile work within the bathrooms. A little more bleach and some elbow grease and it'll be gone.

Of these issues, obviously #1 and #4 are items that couldn't be easily addressed by the management but it's something I hope they keep in mind for the future. The others however are items that management can resolve.

Our stay at the resort was still good enough that I'm sure we'll stay there again. It's location, value and cleanliness makes it a good choice.

Thank you for having chosen The Resort @ Governor’s Crossing and for posting your comments on Trip Advisor. Customer feedback tells us what we are doing right, doing wrong, and what just needs a little improvement.
We thank you for the positive comments on our staff and the cleanliness of the property, two very important things to us and to all travelers. You mentioned having some trouble with the exterior key card locks for entrance into our buildings. With these locks being exposed to the elements and the amount of use they receive, they do wear out quite often. New ones are on order from the manufacturer and the old ones will be replaced shortly.
The exterior locks are for the safety of our guests, so only registered guest may be in the building; not just in their rooms, but also all common areas.
Again, we thank you for your comments and look forward to serving your future lodging needs.
