Super 8 hotels are always a bit of a gamble. Most of the ones we have stayed at were nice enough for the money with one or two being quite exceptional, although you run the risk of one being subpar. This one ended up being fairly nice, although it's just about as basic as they come.
Located about halfway between the interstate and the majority of the area's attractions in Pigeon Forge, getting anywhere means having to deal with lots of traffic thanks to lots of traffic lights and even some road construction (at least of the writing of this review). At least there is no shortage of restaurants and convenience stores in the immediate area. Full-sized grocery stores and pharmacies are only a few minutes away from the hotel.
The room was surprisingly roomy with two separate bedrooms separated by a bathroom and separate counter area with side-by-side sinks. The rooms are accessed by an exterior walkway and the back bedroom features access to a small private balcony overlooking a river behind the property. The furniture in the rooms was basic and a little worn, although everything appeared clean and well-maintained. The bed wasn't the most comfortable in the world but wasn't terrible either. Be warned that only the front room featured a television- the back room didn't have one, yet it was the room with a table and chairs for sitting.
What separates the cheaper hotels from the more expensive ones are the details and this Super 8 was an example of that. The ice machine on our floor took forever to fill a small ice bucket, which was necessary because there was no fridge in the room. The free breakfast was no more than coffee and pastries. While free wireless internet was advertised, the connection was painfully slow, almost to the point where the internet access was useless. While each floor had a large room with rocking chairs for sitting and talking, the air conditioning didn't work all that well, making the rooms a little too humid for my tastes.
For the price, the Super 8 Sevierville is a good option, especially since the abundance of attractions in the area means you'll likely spend very little time in the hotel. However, if you're looking for something more than basic, you'll have to look elsewhere.
