“Bed Bugs !!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

We knew as soon as we walked in that it wasn't gonna be a 1st class stay, but it was cheap. It smelled so bad we had to open both doors and let it air out. I should mention that the back door wouldn't open from the outside b/c the key didn't fit. The room was very run down. Worst part was after a long day of sight seeing I woke was waking up to thousands of huge red bugs crawling all over my husband. My son woke up itching all over. The bugs were terrible and all over the place. It then took forever to find the manager, who was nice about the whole thing (he said he was shocked that they hadn't seen in bed bugs in almost a month). He sent us to their sister motel in Gatlinburg (he said they don't have AS BAD of a prob with the bugs) but we still had to pay for them. He said he would "take care" of the rates, by that he meant they would give us a $10 discount on that one night b/c we had to get up at 2am and change rooms. I felt like the 2nd room should have been free b/c we had to move at 2am. This trashy, dirty motel ruined my entire vacation!! PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT A BED BUG INFESTATION!!!!! oh and p.s. the wi-fi didn't work.

Room Tip: do not stay in rooms 106 or 107 they have bed bugs

“Love it and let me tell you why.......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Okay, first of all this review will be a little long so get comfy and please take the time to read all of it....

I am a repeat customer to the Green Valley Motel. I wanted to go online and see the reviews that people had to say about Green Valley. WOW, was I shocked at some of the reviews it was given.
Okay, I will pro and con so that I can say that this review is fair.

Pros first.....
The management is always accommodating and very friendly! Earl and Delores are always there and always helpful! They dont always close the office at 10 pm.
The rooms are always clean when we arrive and ready for us to come into, and the HUGE thing for me is that I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY TYPES OF BUGS ANYWHERE IN THE ROOMS! BELIEVE ME I LOOK!!!
The pool has always been clean and so warm and inviting, and the BIG thing is that it is AWAY from the main strip so that "rubberneckers" cant google at you or your children as they walk or drive by. Thats just creepy! It is enclosed by a gated fence.
Parking is enforced by the management especially during the many car shows that Pigeon Forge has! We have NEVER had a problem parking.
The management offers and gives a window placard for the hotel in Gatlinburg that they own as well so that you have a place to park without having to pay.
They have free Wi Fi connection... Never had any problems getting online. The only time was when we had to reset our security settings on our lap top. Once done, logged on with no problems. I will put this in the cons as well. Some people didnt like how they couldnt get online. Check your security settings or call management. It is how they use their laptop at check in.
The location is so awesome! They are at a trolley stop and at the last red light on the strip! We know the back roads because we bought a local map and found them and mapped them out. We spend hardly any time in traffic and have had no problems getting in or out.
The Pet Policy is really awesome! Take the time to read it on their web site. Not too much to ask for. Considering most hotels and motels DONT allow pets period.
Air conditioning works extremely well!

Okay, some of the cons....
So the rooms and the motel are a bit outdated SO WHAT!!!! When we come to vacation we dont spend that much time in the hotel. Too much to see and explore! I just want a clean bed to sleep in and a clean bathroom! Close the curtains if you dont want people looking in!
They have free Wi Fi connection... Never had any problems getting online. They only time was when we had to reset our protection settings on our lap top. Once done logged on with no problems.(previously put in pros as well)
Okay the carpet needs a good cleaning and maybe the lamp shades replaced but I mean really.... There is not a single bug, cant say that for the 5 star hotels!
As far as the coupons not being honored.... okay I have been witness to this happening... The deal is only good for NEW people and NOT on group rates or other discounts. Some people dont read all the rules to things and they get upset when they cant get what they want or try to sneak it past check in.
Not having elevators is a real bummer, but I need the exercise and as far as accomodating people needing handicap accessible rooms management will put the customers on the bottom floors. Witnessed that as well.
The car placard for the hotel in Gatlinburg... you will have to walk to the main strip and handicap accessiblity will have to wait on the trolley unless they dont mind going a little ways to the strip. No charge for parking is a big thing when you are trying to save money on vacation.
And yes, there is a trolley stop and a road that runs behind the hotel. If the road gets to loud or busy the Pigeon Forge Police will enforce and get rid of the noise. You do not want this police force on your bad side! They are strict!

Thank you for taking the time to read this review. No the Green Valled isnt a 5 star hotel and have elevators, but for the money and hospitality that you are getting it is wonderful! It also is not what alot of the bad reviews say it is either. I would not keep coming to the Green Valley if it were as dirty as some of the reviews stated. I have never had a problem with the maid service and have never been told they dont clean the rooms daily! I see the maids everytime I am there. The location is great and it is a great stay! I would not recommend staying if you are expecting lavish rooms and staff. If you are looking for Good ole southerner hospitality and friendliness then I highly recommend staying, this is what you are paying for.

Room Tip: Ask for a lower floor if needing handicap accessiblity when booking. Let them know of any allergies...

One of the best motels we've ever stayed in. The rate was reasonable, room was clean and without any odors, management was very courteous and accommodating, professional, cleaning service was excellent. American owned and operated. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

“Home away from Home!!!”

We have stayed in our share of motels and believe me when I say, GreenValley is affordable and they make you feel right at home. I have read some of the other reviews and I would just like to state that I have stains on some of my sheets at home, my walls are in need of a fresh coat of paint and better yet my house needs a big Big remodel job, in simple english, If you want a nice comfortable place to lay your head for the night GreenValley is the place but if it's satin sheets and room service that your looking for than I guess you better keep going.

Room Tip: We like the rooms closer to the office.

“Worst motel I'v ever stayed in and I would never recommend it or go back”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

The room smelled like meldew, musty so we went to Walmart for Fabreze to stay in there that night. The refrigerater was barely cool, could have been because the freezer was froze up, the microwave & coffee maker were sitting on top of the fridge & the cords could only reach the outlet it you set them in the floor under your hanging clothes! No iron, no hair dryer, it didn't look like the floor had been vacuumed in a while, but the kicker was they didn't make up the room. After being gone most of day the first day we were there, we came back & the bed was not made and no fresh towels! I went to the manager & he said they don't make up rooms every day. In 40 yrs. I've never stayed in a hotel where you had to ask for your bed to be made up and the room cleand and fresh towels. Smoky Moutains were beautiful, shows were great but the motel was TERRIBLE!
