“Great Stay!”

First of all, if you want an interior corridor room, book the "mountain view" room as this is also the newer part of the hotel. Our stay was great. Room was always clean and beds were very comfortable. It was also a large room. The bathroom was also a generous size and the lighting in it was excellent. The hotel staff was extremely nice and friendly. Check in and out was quick. Only complaint I had was that the elevator was on the slow side. In addition, I turned the corner one morning on my way out and found someone from housekeeping sitting in the middle of the laundry cart/basket on top of the dirty sheets. Hello! Well, whatever makes her happy. She said that she needed to rest. Getting in and out of the hotel can be a little tricky, but if you turn at the light before you get to the hotel, there is a road that runs behind it and you can pull into and out of the hotel without a problem.

“Great room so we thought..”

Our family had two adjoining rooms for 3 nights during New Years. First room had black bugs in the room the first night that climbed up the walls. We got rid of the bugs then the next evening in our 2nd room we were appalled to come back after a full day out of the room to find a (used tampon) lying in the middle of the floor between the two beds. It was not there when we left in the morning and had no idea how it got there. After speaking to the manager, he apologized (Said in his 15 yrs there this was the first time something like this had happened) and then sent the poor maid to our room to apologize. She had no idea how it got there. It was not only disgusting but made us worried that someone had been in our room while were were out. We had a 5 yr old with us and worried about the sanitary floor after that. Manager should have offered us another room or a free night or something but he didn't. Breakfast was ok but would have been better had there been some type of meat (bacon or sausage). My family go to Piegon Forge several times a year and this is the first and last time I will stay at this hotel. The Location was great, If it had not been for the nasty item found in the floor, we would have thought this a fantastic place for the price. Management should have done more to make up for the bad experience.

“Family Favorite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

My family has traveled to Pigeon Forge on numerous occasions. When we first started, we tried several different hotels, but now we have settled on the Best Western Plaza Inn.

If you've gone to Pigeon Forge before, you will understand that there are an incredible number of hotels, as well as an incredible number of visitors to the area (especially during the Summer, Fall, and Christmas seasons). If you're looking for a five star, high class hotel in the town you'll be hard pressed to do so.

Why then has our family chosen to stay at the Best Western over and over again?

#1 Safety and Security- I don't ever want to stay at a hotel where this is compromised. I have always felt safe at this hotel. The rooms have dead bolts, chain back ups, and key cards for entry.

#2 Cleanliness- I don't want to stay in a dirty hotel. Granted, the Best Western like most other hotels in Pigeon Forge does show wear from the tremendous number of guests that visit year round, we have always found our rooms to be clean. I've noticed other little things too that impress me. For example, at the indoor pool, the staff not only cleans the pool each day (which I'm sure is required), but they also spray/wipe down the deck chairs as well.

#3 Service- The staff of this hotel has always been friendly and eager to assist. We have come to know several staff members by name. There are few if any hotels that I can say that about.

#4 Location- Getting around Pigeon Forge can be a traffic nightmare. The Plaza Inn is located on the Parkway, near the entrance to Dollywood. It also has direct access to the Veteran's Parkway (the new road that most people would refer to as the back entrance which allows you to miss the bumper to bumper traffic) and Teaster Lane which is also another good back road. You're in walking distance to the Dixie Stampede and other restaurants.

#5 Value- There are cheaper hotels in Pigeon Forge, but you certainly get what you pay for. Beware of the hotels down the street which advertize $29 a night. Check the website, because you’ll have a variety of rooms from which to choose. The hotel has had a few additions over the years. The original part has outdoor access rooms overlooking the main parking lot. These are your basic rooms. Another wing was added to the back, with indoor access. These are considered your mountain view rooms. They are a little more upscale than the older section. There are also the indoor pool rooms, which are bigger but a little more expensive. We typically stay in the indoor pool rooms because of the room size (3 kids) and easy access to the indoor pool. All these rooms have different rates. You can also get a 10% discount for AAA, but look around Pigeon Forge and the Pigeon Forge website and you should be able to find a 15% off coupon for weekday rates. Not all rooms have decks, so make sure you check before you get a room if that’s a concern for you.

Breakfast is served in the Continental Café. It’s your basic continental fare, cereal, toast/bagels, oatmeal, mini-donuts… During busy times, they may have a little more like gravy and biscuits. Nothing elaborate, but more than you can eat (and it’s included in the price of the room). You might want to take the plastic tray that’s under you coffee pot in the room to help carry your food.

Pools- There are three pools- one indoor and two outdoor. The back, outdoor section pool is typically the least crowded and goes to about 4/5 deep. The main outdoor pool near the office goes to a depth of 6/7 feet. It can get crowded in the summer. The indoor pool has a hot tub in the middle and only goes to a depth of four feet. This pool can get really crowded, especially in the cold months since everybody uses it.

The hotel does have WiFi. You’ll need an access code which is printed on your receipt. I don’t use wireless as much as my wife and kids. They have said that this is one area that could be improved. The connection is rather slow.

All in all, we have been extremely pleased with the Best Western Plaza Inn. We’ve have stayed there on many occasions, and plan to do so many more.

Room Tip: Be sure to check on the different types of rooms to fit your needs- standard, Mountain view, or indo...

“UNKNOWN BUGS”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We had reservations to stay three days. After we checked in, we inspected the mattresses, one bed had 3 unknown bugs at the head of the bed.Two appeared to be dead but one was moving around, it was in some type of larva state of development. We reported this to desk, and they sent someone to look at them. He didn't know what they were, so he checked on getting us another room, all they had available was a room for one night, not for the three days we needed. The parking lot was only 1/4 full but no room for us. We have stayed here four times in the past three years. They refunded our money with no trouble and we went down the street and stayed for three nights for less money and no bugs.

The location is great for dollywood and really great for dixie stampede, but the pool is impossible. The outdoor pools were right outside our rooms, but closed. Terrible for a six year old! the indoor pool was open but half a block away with no indoor way to get to it. The rooms were soso but clean. The breakfst was over crowded and not much offered. Most people had to eat outside in the cold standing up. We wont go back again to this hotel.

Room Tip: We requested mountain view rooms but we sure couldnt see the mountains. Maybe if you get a higher fl...
