Just what we were looking for!
At the Norma Dan they have kept the old 'mom and pop' section that started it all. They have the new section attached to the lobby, it is the modern 3 story type hotel. You share pools, breakfast with both parts.
And the pools...they have an indoor for winter and an outdoor for summer...fantastic.
I really like parking just outside door of my room, as a true Motel.
They are directly across street from Dixie Stampede...about the best location possible.
Turn right as you leave, and your in Gatlinburg in 8 minutes, the Smoky Mountains Park in 15 minutes if you take the bypass around Gatlinburg.... but we always enjoyed the drive thru town, even if slow.
Everything you want in a trip to the mountains is near this motel/hotel.
We had two queen size in our non-smoking room, fridge, coffee maker, and a extra sink outside of bathroom...very handy each morning.
Bathroom heater was nice to have, and they gave us lots of towels....deep tub and tile walls.
Breakfast was a few steps away from this part of motel, waffels, fresh coffee, milk, orange juice, bagels, toast, cereal, hot chocolate...just right to start each day.
Nice lobby with a fire place and coffee waiting at any time.
They clean about 10am which was good for us.
Once we closed the door...we never heard anyone, except in morning when others would start their cars...was good to have, as this kept us from oversleeping.
