Room was updated and the beds very comfortable. Bathrooms are small, but do you really need a lot of space there?? NO. Staff was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed before Christmas Day. I certainly didn't expect them to clean the room while we were there (3 nights only,) so after wishing them a Merry Christmas, we were not bothered. This place is clean, convenient to both Pigeon Forge and to Gatlinburg. Rates were more than reasonable for spending Christmas in the Smokies. The only thing I would want to add is more channels on the TV, but that's NOT the main reason we came here, so it's only a suggestion. We will stay here again!!!
This is our 2nd time staying at Colonial House Motel. We love staying here. The price is very reasonable (even during a holiday weekend). The beds are so comfortable! It's definitely not your upscale hotel, but the employees are friendly, service is great. Our bathroom light bulb burned out while we were there and within 5 minutes of telling the front office, someone was there to fix it! How great is that? A lot complain about no hot breakfast, but since we never eat at the hotels anyway (we prefer eating at different eateries), it doesn't bother us. Can't wait for our next trip!
My husband and I have stayed here many times over the years when we want a quick get-away to the mountains but don't want to splurge money on a cabin. The motel is in a good location and sits far enough back from the road that you don't notice any traffic noise. This is an older motel but the rooms were completely renovated-updated in 2009 (or 2008) with new carpeting, bedding, paint, paper, etc. and are really nice. The beds are comfy and many of the units have balconies that overlook the Little Pigeon River and park behind the motel. We didn't notice noise coming from adjoining rooms. This is a great value and we have always enjoyed our stays at Colonial House. Families with children would like it here too... they have a nice indoor pool that's open year round and the kids could play in the park to work off energy.
We checked in on Sept 28, they honored the price given me over the phone, we averaged $57 a night. Motel is older but well kept, we were on the 3rd floor, small elevator, which was adequate. Room was clean and smelled fine. Bathroom was small, but ok. Sink and mirror was outside of bath area, like that. We had 2 queen beds, very comfy, wish the cover on the beds was softer, but it kept me warm when I left the fan on all night. There was a microwave and small frig. It would of been nice to had a tv guide so we knew what channel on the tv to watch. Outdoor pool was closed but the inside pool was in a glass solarium type buildinjg. Water was warm. They had coffee, tea, juice in the lobby along with doughnuts, muffins, grits and oatmeal. DH went for a walk each morning either along the sidewalks or the riverwalk behind the motel. This motel is easy to access either from the parkway or the road directly behind it.What I liked the best was that when we went out for the day, when we returned, our room was cleaned up. Housekeeping should get some praise on this because it seems sometimes you wait till late afternoon before your room is cleaned.
