“Never again, Holiday Inn!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

First time to stay at this location. Chose it b/c of the need for a suite with a separate bedroom. On arrival, commode in room did not work. We left for a while, and it was fixed when we got back. If that had been the only problem, that would have been fine.
We had problems with our heating/air unit the entire time. For 2 nights and 3 days, the unit NEVER turned off. We had to endure the loud roaring sound while trying to sleep. Even though the outside temp was in the 30's and 40's, our room was unbearably hot the entire time, as the heat would not turn off. We eventually decided to turn on the AC and set it on 68. It still did not get cool and it NEVER turned off! And yes, this was even after having it "fixed" by hotel maintenance.
The unit looked like an attempt had been made to update it, but it was very pieced together. It was very dimly lit. I had to open the curtains to get enough light to put on my makeup. There are only sliding doors separating the bedrooms, and one was off track. The door to the hotel hallway was so poorly hung, the light from the hall shone through the gaps. The sofa bed was so uncomfortable my son considered folding it up and sleeping directly on the sofa. And, once it is let out, there is not room to walk around in the sitting room. There was a nice large, tub, but there were multiple hairs in it because it had not been cleaned since the last guests left.
I complained to hotel management and was given 1,000 club points. They would not move us to another room. Our experience was so bad, we tried to move to another hotel. However, it was the week of Christmas/NY, and everything was booked up.
Staff is mediocre. Not very professional in their appearance or actions. We will never, ever stay at this location again!

“OK location to visit Dollywood, but those noises ??”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

Fairly good location if going to Dollywood via Teaster Lane; however, twice we missed the turn into the hotel from the main highway, because area road signs and maps are confusing and/or conflicting. Our room had annoying, persistant noises in the wall or ceiling. Maybe it was in the pipes, sounded like a pounding or drumming, similar to loud fireworks about a block away. Also our A/C had rattles and made noise. The main entry doors to the lobby were not automatic opening, making it more difficult to carry our luggage in and out. the common areas of the hotel showed years of wear, and they had very low quality facial tissue in the room. our bed had an uncomfortable hard surface on the mattress. We do not find these short-comings at most Holiday Inn Express locations.

“Outstanding Customer Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

I needed to cancel my advanced purchase, no refund reservation, due to a military commitment. I spoke with desk manager Paula Adkins, who was able to cancel the reservation and refund the retire amount. It is nice to know that Holiday Inn Express always takes care of military personnel. Holiday Inn Express will always be my first choice of Hotels. When my family visits Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg TN we will always stay at the Holiday Inn Express. The customer service is professional and courteous. Thank you Holiday Inn Express, Pigeon Forge for your understanding.

“PRETTY GOOD STAY”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

If you're in Pigeon Forge to just have fun and not stay in the hotel a lot, this will be OK. It's pretty typical of a Holiday Inn Express, - not many frills. The location is at intersection #1. It's pretty centrally located for most events.

All the members of the staff were exceptionally helpful & cheerful. The hotel was clean. The decor of the room was a little "dated". There was a refrigerator and micro oven in our room. The heater/air cond. unit in the hallway made a noise like a turbo engine when it came on and disturbed my sleep. I reported it and was told they would get maintanance on it right away.

I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a "work-out" room (usually a few treadmills). There is an indoor pool & hot tub though.

The free breakfast was normal for a Holiday Inn Express: pre-made cheese omlets, bacon, biscuits, gravy, assortment of breads, pancake machine, cereals, yogurt, fruit, juices, etc, and their wonderful, signature cinnamon buns.

“Very Quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

We stayed here two nights this week and we were very satisfied with our stay. Far enough off the main road but still very convenient to get too. And super quiet. I don't know if it was just the location of our room, but there was almost no noise from other guests, and there was one tour group there also. Things seemed to be well maintained. We will definitely return.
