Very accomodating staff, facilities low end 2 star at best.
Surprisingly, this establishment still allows smoking, and unfortunately has that stale smoke smell even in the non-smoking rooms. My first non-smoking room was very musty. When I requested a change in rooms the staff was very accomodating. My second non-smoking room was better but not great. When I went to the desk to formally check in to the second room, the staff accidentally put me in a third room. That turned out to be a good error. This room was fresh smelling and had no hint of smoke. I think that this might be because it was a handicapped accessible room that has lower traffic.
Furnishings in all three rooms wer very stark, plain and low end 2 star in nature and were quite uninviting. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There was no noise from the neighboring rooms.
My room was on the back side of the building and looked out onto the backside of the fast food establishments on the next road over. The view was not a problem, but the semi-trucks re-stocking the restaurants woke me twice during the night. The HVAC system was also quite loud, right to the edge of being too loud to sleep, but not quite.
Breakfast was very poor. Biscuits and gravy - whatever that is, looked disgusting; cereal and waffles. All carbohydrates, no fruit, no eggs, no meat, no cream cheese, etc. Breakfast took all of maybe 5 minutes to cook and eat a plain waffle.
Finally, this is an extended stay establishment and the unpleasant long-term vibe was quite strong. I can never put my finger on it, but extended stay places all have that same strange feel. The long term guests were at the front desk, in slippers and nightwear, every time I needed assistance. They seem to love the place. Not exactly a problem, but not exactly what I want to be dealing with when I am on business and in a hurry.
I will be in Oak Ridge on business on a routine basis, but I won't be back here.
Oak Ridge is a very nice small town, I suggest the various attractions and museums focusing on the "Oak Ridge Story" from WWII, especially the American Museum of Science and Energy, which was especially inviting.
Room Tip: Handicapped room was less musty than the other rooms. Rooms on the back side have semi-tractor nois...
