We were in town on business and were tired and just looking for a bed for a bargain price. That is basically all we got. We arrived at 10pm and there were several guys hanging out between their vehicles and their rooms near the office. It gave the appearance of a low class weekly rate motel. The front desk person was lounging on the couch in the lobby talking with a friend when we drove up. Behind the desk was an efficiency type kitchen area that looked very "lived in". The rooms were in serious need of updating. There were ants in the bathroom. After a few hours rest I woke up in the very early a.m. to take care of some online business. The free wireless high speed internet that was advertised was not found and the desk that was advertised as 24 hours had no one to answer the phone. The room did smell of smoke even though it was clearly marked as a non-smoking room, which triggered my allergies. The a/c did work ok and there was no mildew or musty smell. Even though we were only in town for 2 nights, we got a different hotel for our 2nd night. We definitely would not return to this hotel or recommend it to others.

We stayed at this hotel on buisiness in Oak Ridge in early March 2005. In our three rooms we experienced the following problems: *All were non-smoking rooms that nontheless had obviously been smoked in heavily; *The heating units did not work well and there were serious air leaks around the doors; *There had obviously been some major water damage to the hotel recently, as the rooms smelled of mildew, and there were large piles of water-damaged furniture behind the main building. We will not stay in this hotel on our return to the city later this month.

Just for kicks, I decided to see if anyone had written a review about this place. I have fond memories of the Super 8 from back in high school. When I lived in the area, we once had a hotel party here. 10 or so of us girls stayed here one night. I am sure we were very loud, but we never got one complaint from the management. Granted, I have to give it to the hotel, because they didn't know that many of us were staying there. We had the 2 people who were 18 in the group check in together and pretend they were a couple. (one of our girls and her boyfriend--who didn't stay there with us). They asked for a room with "some privacy". The person at the desk winked at them and told them they wouldn't be bothered. ha.ha. So, the point of my review is, don't expect any peace and quiet if you stay here. Since I still have family in the area, I have driven by there a few times. It seems the hotel is now taken over by Mexicans who live there and work next door at the Mexican restaurant and also people on 4-wheeling trips in the nearby mountains.
