We took a family trip to Nashville as some of us had never been there before. Thinking Nashville was Music City, you would think that most of the Hotels would be pretty decent. Here is the rundown starting at our arrival:
We arrived to check in to our room. After reserving ONLINE and the Confirmation that we printed out SPECIFICALLY stating "You will be charged upon completion of the online reservation", the Clerk tells us that they only put a hold on it and it would be pulled out while we checked in. Seriously? So we shrug it off and get our keys. Our room was on the first floor. I can't even really say first floor as the doors were outside. They use the older style security key locks for their doors, the kind where you slide the card downward into what looks like a picture frame. The doors are so flimsy, they could be kicked open. It only went downward from here. Once inside, everything is unplugged (one can only assume they are trying to be 'green')? Not a big deal, but kind of an annoyance. The weather that day was 95. It was extremely hot in this room. We turned on the air on HIGH (Only has LOW and HIGH setting) and the high setting was comparable to a battery powered fan you buy at walmart. We left for the majority of the day to explore, and came back to a surprisingly comfortable room. While looking through the room, we noticed cigarette burn holes in the comforter and the sheets. Funny since these are NO SMOKING rooms. Looking at the ceiling, paint chips are ready to fall off the ceiling. We checked the bathroom, and there was black stuff on the ceiling. Mold? We didn't get close enough to find out. There is NO exhaust fan for the bathroom. I guess that would explain why the automatic sprinkler head was completely rusted. The shower wall also had a big hole on one end of a 'safety' bar. You could see where they recently did some drywall 'patching' and it's obvious there was a lot of water damage previously. The curtains do not even cover the whole window. I can honestly say that it was hard to distinguish whether it was actually daylight coming in around the curtains or if it was the lights outside. You really have no way to block the surrounding area of the window to keep the light out. I realize this was a cheaper rate motel, but seriously? This is unacceptable! We will NEVER go to this place again. We did have 1 or 2 wait staff that were nice and polite. However the majority of them were rude and extremely UNHELPFUL. Our room keys stopped working several times which prompted for repeat trips to the front desk. If you choose to stay in this place, cross your fingers that it is not raining while you are packing or unpacking, there is no overhang to protect you from it while carrying your luggage. The parking was also ridiculous. If you have to use their computer to access anything or print anything, better bring a cup of coffee as you will be there awhile. The computer runs like it is from 20 years ago. We stayed at a Best Western in Wyoming, in a little town in the middle of nowhere that was 100 times better than this place.
