“Room looked like horror movie.”

My husband I are traveling to Kansas, from Jacksonville FL for Christmas. We figured Nashville would be the perfect halfway sleeping point. The hotel is conviently located right off the interstate, but in a slum area. Pulling in we could see homeless men, and hookers. The front desk woman was very rude; but I probably would be too if I had to work there. She gave us room 307. Automatically when we walk in our puppy finds tons of things on the floor. They hadn't cleaned the floors in months. The first thing I always do is pull off the sheets and check the bed/under the mattress. The mattress was stained horribly, and I found condoms under the sheets and on the floor. Our sink was also clogged and completely full of nasty water. The walls were stained with blood, as well as the desk chair. We asked for another room, this time she gave us 304. She did apologize and said, "the manager was usually strict on things like that." I did the same routine with this room. The beds appeared fine, but there was a stain on the wall. We showered, and the water pressure was awesome but the towels felt like dead leaves. An hour later, I find a bed bug crawling through our sheets. Desk lady called manager and said "room 304 APPARENTLY found a bed bug." In turn I told her we trapped the bug in a cup, because I had a feeling she'd say that. Then she said she could return our money if we wanted- of course we want it back! We left and will never stay with this hotel chain again!

The price really is too good to be true. I felt like we were in some crazy horror movie. Horrible horrible place to stay.

“For the price, you get what you pay for.”

I stayed at this property in September on a one day trip to Nashville. I booked it because it was cheap and it was advertised as a hotel in downtown Nashville. Upon my arrival, I found out that it was about a 5-10 minute drive to downtown.

The check in staff was quite pleasant. The room itself met the minimum criteria, but it was not in the best part of town. I would think this hotel caters to road travelers, like truckers who need a cheap place to stay. I was a little worried about safety, but didn't have any problems while there.

“Poor Front Desk Service-Hotel upkeep Bad-Poor Management Skills”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2010

I had only a few hours to get some sleep before traveling on only to find that the elevator was NOT WORKING and was informed by the front desk that I would have to leave all my baggage and equipment on the first floor and walk up 4 floors to an available room. Upon asking about rooms on the first floor, the response was that rooms were available but all needed to be cleaned and I could wait in the lobby for one to be cleaned. I could understand if this was the middle of the night, but this is at 11 a.m. Why were these available rooms not being cleaned? Why couldn't Management have someone clean a room for me all while I sat in the lobby waiting over two hours. Finally after the available rooms were cleaned the front desk informs me that I can NOT check into any of these rooms because there are later reservations for them and these rooms are higher dollar rooms. Why would you have someone sit in the lobby for two hours waiting for a room to be cleaned, well knowing that you are not going to offer this room? Also why would you not offer assistance by your staff in having baggage delivered to a room on a upper floor that you have immediately available. First, Customer service is something to be desired at this location and you can forget about getting decent rest time! Thanks a lot Howard Johnsons!

“Great room, sad location, lousy front desk”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2010

I stayed here because it was close to the freeway, a great price, and is north of downtown. The neighborhood probably was good a generation or two ago, but is now rundown; the torn down building lot across from the office, the steel fence around the parking lot, the out of business strip bar behind the property, and the number of guests that seem down and out even make a cheapskate like me a bit nervous. And I didnt care for the handyman that liked to smoke everytime he rode in the elevator. But, the room was great. Newly refurbished, quiet, clean, and very comfortable. The housekepping staff was at work at weird hours (in the evening) and the free breakfast was plain lousy; not even up to the bread spread that most WyndhamRewards hotels give out. There is a great BBQ place around the corner and it is a better location for those headed north in the morning. The traffic going south didn't thin until around 9:30 a.m.
