“You get what you pay for in Downtown Nashville”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I was looking for a place downtown and didn't want to spend too much money for a quick stay in downtown Nashville. This Best Western has a very nice price tag for a hotel within walking distance to the strip! If price is the only thing you care about, this is an average place to stay.

The outside of the Best Western is more typical of a lower end hotel that was about 5-7 stories tall. To enter your room, you have to walk outside and on the walk way. One good thing was that there was valet parking and it wasn’t too pricey and that’s always nice in a downtown hotel.

As for the room décor, it was very plain and simple. Again it was very out of date, but that was fine with me. The bathroom was small but had everything you needed. The room was equipped with an older heating/ac unit that is below the windows and they are always quite noisy. The side of the hotel was next to a street so it was noisy also. But I still had a good nights rest.

The best thing about the hotel was the location and the free breakfast. It's in a great location being about 4 blocks from the Bridgestone Arena or the Broadway strip where all the action is. The breakfast had a numerous choice of drinks to choose from along with a vast variety of food to eat. I chose to make myself a few waffles. Everything was kept very clean and neat.

If you want a good price and don’t mind the hotel being out of date, then I would say this is a great place to stay. If you want something a little nicer and are willing to pay twice as much, there is a very nice place across the street which I have also stayed at. ;)

Room Tip: If you stay here, ask for a room on the side of the Hotel that doesn't have a road beside it.

“Great Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

This is a great place! The room was very clean, bed was comfortable, great pillows, and the refrigerator and microwave were a big plus. The attached convenience store and washer and dryer were also very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient location--we walked everyone we wanted to go. Lots of construction and renovation going on--the property is bound to be even better when it is finished! We were very pleased that smoking rooms are offered. Good variety of food at the free breakfast.

Room Tip: Elevator is slow, so a room on one of the lower floors would be better if you want to use the stairs...

“Mildew ridden miserable place”

Joined Trip Advisor just to write this:
Oh My Oh MY! I am not a complainer, and I really do not have high standards but jeeesssee loooouise this place was just terrible! The staff were fine at check in, the valet guy was a great first impression to the hotel and then we see our room! It stank of air freshener with an undertone of mildew or something rotten, it was a non smoking room so that wasnt it. We saw the guests next door and asked if they had the same thing and Yes there room was the same. Overall the hotel needs an upgrade - we stayed at motels mostly for our trip at under 100 bucks but this was the only place availabe and at 198 bucks I expected alot more and perhaps more than the bowl of cereal or rock hard pastry for breakfast..stay here as a last resort only like we did.
Oh and the sheets were not ironed and off white - they looked like they had spent a year screwed up in a washing machine - it did not make me want to go to sleep!

Room Tip: Just dont stay here

Dear BeckyStar79:

I received your comment and wished that you had of been a complainer while you were here as we can only fix problems we know about. Currently there is no record of you stating a issue at the property. I do however admire your zeal to join Tripadvisor to complain but as it is only a resource to share your experience (based on your perspective), they are not in a position to solve your problems. Yes, property is older and we do advertise exactly as it is online. Our staff is good and I do appreciate your comment as they try daily to deliver the best service they can in our current aged condition. What I am pleased to annouce is we have started renovating our guestrooms as we are doing a total renovation of the entire property. I can assure you that once completed your complaint and any other complaint such as will be non-existent.

Your complaint also focused on the rate you paid as there were special events in town during your stay that increased rate not only for our property but for "all properties downtown" and the decision you made to stay with us was mostly likely based on rate as there were many other stay alternatives available.

For the record, our deluxe continental breakfast features waffles, bisquits and gravy, boiled eggs, assorted muffins, pastries, yogarts, fruits and coffees, juices and teas which needed to be mentioned as they were not in your comment.

It is my wish that you come back after June to see what we have done. I am confident your opinion will change to a positive.

Again, I thank you for your comment and on behalf of my staff we apologize that we did not meet your expectations. As there are many people out of work these days we would like to be able to keep our employees working. We have taken your comments to heart and will continue work towards completing this renovation.

Best regards Becky.

“No Problems At All”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

person found this review helpful

I was leary of staying here based on some other reviews, but for the price I decided to give it a chance. I am glad that I did. The room was clean. I saw no bugs. It was in walking distance of everything. (The folks that complained about having to take cabs must not understand what staying downtown and walking is about.) I had no issues w/ the valet service and it was cheaper than self parking at other downtown Nashville hotels that I have stayed at. The lady at the front desk was pleasant and the breakfast was perfectly fine for a free breakfast. I will definitely stay here again the next time I need to stay in downtown Nashville.

“In town for a Predators game”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Family and I visited for one night prior to Predators game. We felt the walk to the Bridgestone Arena was kind of long. It sure was cold and uphill coming back. I felt the property was decent and the valet parking guy Sean was very nice. The staff were nice but it is an older property with just one elevator. The property has all the room doors on the exterior with the elevator on the inside. It felt safe and it was clean. I am not sure if they have a shuttle to the honkey tonk/arena area but it would be helpful. The breakfast had a nice selection of pastries and had the ole self serve waffle iron. You could do alot worse than the Union Street Best Western. The Parthenon museum is about a 10 minute drive away.

Room Tip: All the rooms have some transient noise.
