“Got chewed out by manager first day”

This hotel had wonderful prices and the room was decent. The a/c didn't work well though. The pool was nice as well. On our first day the check-in desk said that the pool was open as we were walking to our rooms we noticed the pool sign said closed til ? I have 3 small children just wanting to get in there. So as we were leaving to head to the zoo we asked a guy sweeping up glass on the sidewalk if the pool was open. He looked up at my husband and then went back to what he was doing as if he hadn't heard a word he said. He was Indian and my husband asked honestly with no harm meant (bc the man acted like he didn't understand us) do you speak english. He started flipping out and yelling basically calling us a racist and told us he was the general manager, that he owned this hotel. As we walked off he yelled I"M NOT A MEXICAN!! I don't even know where that was coming from.

Halls were in bad shape, the ice machine on our floor had the door tore on it, the first day we were there the only elevator was out of order. The mans attitude before and after our question was enough to never want to come back, you don't need to treat ppl staying at your hotel so horrible.

“Better inside than outside”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2010

I wouldn’t have risked Thrifty Inn if it weren’t for the generally positive reviews here. It looks a bit “sketchy” from the outside. But it’s fine. In fact, for $40 a night, it’s a deal. Rooms are big, beds are okay, and breakfast is minimal but…well, edible. Yes, there is jet noise in the daytime, but not a problem overnight. TV in my room was fuzzy until it warmed up. But room was clean (though carpet stained), and bathroom recently re-tiled. High speed internet was plenty fast--probably because so few users. For $40 in a tourist town in summer, you must lower your expectations. In this case, they will be exceeded. (Three stars overall is all I can give for what you get, but it pushes five stars in bang for the buck.)

“The Raincoat Jacket wrapper in the BED!!!!”

WE booked this Room From the INN's website, and after we had drove four hours to come down to CMA FEst 2010 we went out to eat and then came back to get some shut eye, so i lifted up the blanket to get into the bed and out came an open wrapper of a raincoat , so to say that pretty much ruined the stay and we had no where else to go as all the hotels were booked up due to the CMA Fest!! The Management didn't seem to care about what happened!!!

“CMA Music Fest”

Im in shock that this place has gotten the reviews it has. I took the advice of other travellers and boy was I disappointed. This place is old and dirty. I was embarrassed that given the timing of our trip, there weren't other hotels to go to. I was with my girlfriend and didn't know what to say the whole time we were there. The location is fine. The building looks fine from the outside although there was a guy sleeping on the ground in the parking lot? Walked into the room and it was warm. A/c controls don't offer much relief so the room stayed more warm than cool. The mattress was horrific. I won't mention the stains I noticed just on the sides of it (due to sheets not hanging down enough). Mattresses were old and uncomfortable. We were supposed to have a non-smoking room and it smelled of smoke. Staff said they didn't have any other rooms to move us to. Light shined through the door so we found a bug or three. The towels were old and paper thin. I was looking for something inexpensive and reasonable and got the bottom of the barrel. It was bad. If you're travelling with the 'gus' and you need a place to crash for cheap.... This is the place. Other than that, don't believe the hype!

On a positive note, the bathroom seemed clean and the location is good.

I have been loyal to this location for years.. always enjoyed kindness of staff, in particular Theresa, who went out of her way to help me on many occasions. We found the hotel had changed hands shortly before our spring break trip in 2009, our regular price was honoured but Theresa & most of the staff gone. (I found her working at the Drury) Later in the year at a short stay changes had started: oatmeal, PB & other items were removed from breakfast, no USA Today, camera installed in lobby. We stayed this spring and it was still a good price that went to $42 with an additonal person for 2 days. A group of 4 of us needing a place before my brother's funeral was charged $65 on June 7 even with an AAA discount. I should have gone somewhere else but I was so sad. The room A/C was poor and the pool closed. I think they have lost a customer.
