I love Choice Hotels. I am a Gold Elite member. This place does not meet the usual standards for Choice Hotels, except for maybe EconoLodge. It is almost impossible to get into the parking lot, you have to take the lane that says I-40 only. When we checked in, we were given a room and when we opened the door, the room was not cleaned and the bed was not made up. The front desk clerk apologized and gave us another room, on the second floor. The room seemed very small. The fan in the A/C-heater squeaked the entire night. We kept it on so that we did not hear the noise from the interstate. The shower head was stuck permanently on massage, with the three streams in the middle pummeling us as we showered. I tried valiantly to get it on a regular shower spray, but to no avail. There was garbage from the rooms, 4 or 5 small bags of it, that were left there over night. When I checked out, the young lady did not ask how my stay was, when she finally finished reviewing the paperwork she was working on, when I came to the counter. I did not bother to tell her about my concerns, as from her attitude, I got the feeling she really would not have cared. Then, amazingly, she attached a card for Trip Advisor to my receipt and it invited me to give my opinion about my stay.
The other guests seemed to be a pretty rough crowd, a van would pull up and either load or unload men. They sort of hung around the lobby, chatting with each other and eating popcorn. They seemed nice enough, but made my wife a bit nervous.
On the plus side, they had popcorn in the lobby, the Wi-Fi was very fast, our sheets were clean and they had a great breakfast.
