“My favorite B&B in Nashville”

My daughter is a Vanderbilt student, so I have sought out B&B's nearby to the Vanderbilt campus. I have stayed at a few and this is by far my favorite. The location is excellent - both for Vanderbilt, Belmont and for getting to downtown Nashville.

Kim and Catherine are pure southern hospitality. Kim is wonderful manager and is eager to help in any way possible. We enjoyed a relaxing chat with Catherine and her husband on the porch after the Vanderbilt football game and learned many interesting facts about them, their neighborhood and Nashville. We came away from the weekend with some great new friends.

They went out of their way to accomodate my son who decided to travel with us at the last minute by putting a mattress on the floor (yes, the Linden room is big enough to accomodate this!). Breakfasts were delicious and the company quite enjoyable.

The only issue we had was dealing with the water temperature in the shower ... but this is an older house, and things like this are to be expected. We dealt with it ... and it will not be a factor in our decision to return and stay with them again.

Room Tip: The Linden room is the largest and has an outside entrance from the porch. The downstairs rooms are...

“Belmont parent visit - Fantastic”

I chose Linden Manor due to its proximity to Belmont University... and experience so much more then just a great location. Outstanding hospitality. Catherine, Kim and Jenny are fabulous host. Helpful in ways that go above and beyond innkeeping duties. I was moving my daughter into Belmont and ran into unexpected needs, all three come to our rescue. Breakfasts each morning were wonderful and my daughter was invited to join me on my last morning at the B&B... a nice touch.

“Historic Neighborhood and Friendly Proprietor”

We stayed at the Linden House January 6-7, in the Vanderbilt Room (so we were there immediately before the review just before this one on this list, in the same room as those reviewers). We loved the experience. The breakfast was extremely good, even if there weren't choices. Catherine had asked that morning, when we called to give her our estimated time of arrival, whether we had special requests, so we felt cared-for.

Kim was terrific, giving us lots of hints and some good tips. She told us about the neighboring properties and pointed us to a little neighborhood of shops and restaurants just down the street that we would have missed otherwise. She really made the experience a pleasure.

The main reason I am giving four stars instead of five is that in the Vanderbilt Room, there was a door that initially appeared like a closet and, upon opening, consisted only of a papered-up space. It was a bit of a shock, and the result was that there is no place to hang clothes in that room. (The gorgeous armoire in the room does not have a key with it.) I'd recommend that Catherine post a sign on that door so that unknowing guests don't open the door and experience a bit of an unpleasant, unexpected moment. In addition, perhaps a hook or two would enable guests to hang clothes and coats.

There's a discount if you pay cash, which was nice.

“Beautiful home, great location and service”

My wife and I spent the Holidays at Linden Manor Bed and Breakfast and could not have been more pleased. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked another week at the B&B for our Spring Break.

We were welcome by Catherine and Kim who spent time with us showing us maps and helping us plan our week in Nashville as was promised while making our reservation. Both are very knowlegeable on all that Nashville has to offer. Also suggested and made reservations for us for the Bluebird cafe and the Opry before our arrival.

We chose the Belmont room. It was very comfortable and nicely appointed. The Victorian B&B is very beautiful as well as interesting. Catherine and Tom have traveled extensively while Tom serve in the Cost Guard and their home furnishings reflects their travels.

Breakfast is serve in a sunny dinning room at a large table together with other guest at the B&B. It was nice to meet other guest and share experiences with each other. While we were at the B&B we meet a songwriter who was in town to play a show at the Bluebird.

The B&B has a great location, one block from the 12th South district. A street that has become a restaurant district . We went to Burger Up and the Fish Company, both great restaurants. One day we walk to the downtown district. It is about two miles. We took taxis at night.

Thank you Catherine and Kim for taking good care of us. We look forward to seeing you in April.

Room Tip: Belmont very comfortable. All were beautiful.

“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We had a nice visit to Nashville going to the Music City Bowl and visiting downtown for New Year's Eve. Linden Manor was an adequate place to stay and was a step above a hotel. We didn't really have any complaints but there are some things that you would need to be aware of before you decide to reserve a room:

1) The bed and breakfast has an owner (Catherine) and an innkeeper (Kim). I spoke with Catherine on the phone when reserving our room and also spoke with her the same day as our arrival for directions on entering the house since we were arriving late. She did not mention that she would not be there during our stay nor mention anything about the innkeeper. So I was surprised and confused when I arrived and received a note from Kim and not Catherine. When Kim arrived in the morning to make us breakfast, she did not know who we were, which room we were staying in, and how many nights we were staying. I don't know if you would say this is a negative thing, but confusing anyway. Kim was helpful in giving us directions to downtown and giving us ideas of places to visit in Nashville.

2) The breakfast was good but a bit disappointing. As a disclaimer, I have high expectations from previous bed and breakfasts. The bed and breakfasts we have stayed in give you a menu to choose from or at least variety in the breakfast. Linden Manor gives you whatever they are cooking that morning and does not give you options. Our first breakfast was a waffle and some bacon. It didn't seem like a lot but Kim did ask if I wanted another waffle. I wasn't full yet but not hungry enough to eat another waffle. The second day we were there, we had a breakfast casserole, a biscuit, and a fruit cup. The food was good but I like options and more variety.

3) The room was nice. We stayed in the Vanderbilt room. We had a private bath with a stand up shower so don't expect to be able to take a relaxing bath while you are there. The house did get noisy when other guests would come and go. Our room was right next to the dining room and we could hear the entire conversation of the other guests who were eating when we went back to our room.

4) There are a total of 5 rooms, 2 on the main level and 3 in the bottom level. Only 3 rooms are listed on the website.

Overall, Linden Manor was adequate and I wouldn't give it a bad rating but I am hesitant to give it a good rating. The best thing we like about Linden Manor is the location. It was in a very nice neighborhood within walking distance of Belmont University and within 5 minutes driving time to downtown. The next time we visit Nashville we would not stay at Linden Manor again, not necessarily because it was a bad experience but because we would want to check out other bed and breakfasts.
