This was one night of a 16 day road trip and we can't wait to go back! We got directions from Google, which were exact. Lots of highways going on and it brought us right there. The location is perfect! It is not downtown, but busy and lots happening - sort of a mall of different hotels and restaurants on its own exit.
Clean as usual and staff was inviting. We weren't at the hotel very long, as we wanted to make the best of one evening in Nashville. There are lots of pamphlets around, but the staff told us about Tommy's Tours, which is a downtown shuttle and picks up right at the hotel. That was perfect!
Jerry picked us up and basically gave us the scoop about everything on the way downtown, even details about local jobs and how to avoid the pricey parking fee at the "must see" Gatlin Hotel, I think, near our hotel location. He described how there's a river inside and very much worth the visit. He asked us about ourselves and told us about himself and told us about music stars who live there.
Once downtown on "the strip," he suggested what we could do and see and pointed out a great local restaurant with delicious food for good prices. A nice tip was knowing that all the bars don't charge a cover fee, and the music talent is all good talent; they're looking to be discovered. Most were non-smoking, but there were some that allowed smoking. So...we did what many people do when on the strip and had a drink in four different bars, which all served food, and listened to music. We also tried out the local restaurant he suggested; we only had nachos, but they were very good and the ambiance and service were great!
The best part was knowing that we weren't driving and could be picked up on any half hour, and he picked up till after midnight. There were two other couples on the return and all of us had a great time with whatever we did. We were dropped off at our hotel door - all for $10.00 each. To us, it was well worth it and made us want to return to Nashville to see more.
Our hotel bill was slipped under the hotel door during the night, so there was no check-out. Breakfast was great for us; I'm a fruit and yogurt eater and I like that there are nuts and raisins to supplant. My husband does the cereal and yogurt, so I'm not even sure if they had the pancake maker. But everything was clean.
The hotel manager was around and he gave us easy directions to continue West, without retracing our steps on all these highways. Would we stay again? Absolutely!! Thanks Fairfield/Marriott!
