“Nice hotel but resent add ons.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My husband took me to Nashville for my birthday. Our stay was Feb 3-6 2012. Our room was on the third floor Delta wing. The room was well appointed, bed very comfortable and clean. We had a balcony with table, two chairs which overlooked the beautiful atrium. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony, sipping wine, watching people, and admiring the landscape design. While there we found the staff to be courteous and accomodating. We also enjoyed walking to the other atriums.
Now to the negative review. We considered room service. You pay for the food plus 21% gratuity and $3 delivery charge.
Self park is $18/day.
You pay for the room (which is overpriced) plus $15 resort fee /day.
Food is expensive for what you get. Drinks/beer run at least $10. Breakfast for two was $63.
I'm glad that I stayed but would not stay here again. My suggestion, stay somewhere else. Go to the hotel and tour ..

Room Tip: Get a room with an atrium view, preferably upper floor , Delta wing. This atrium is the best.

“Amazing Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We stayed at the Opryland Resort & Convention Center is Sept 2011. It was an amazing stay! Our room was on the lower level so it was newly renovated due to thier flooding awhile back. The room was beautiful, spotless and very spacious. The grounds are extremely well maintained. The hotel has lots to offer. We enjoyed catching the shuttle service to the downtown nightly. My husband was there for a conference for work and I tagged along. I was worried I may be bored while he was in his meetings. There is more than enough to do. Lovely shops, beautiful indoor and outdoor pool. Would love to go back someday!

Room Tip: We had a room at the end of the hallway and it was very quiet and spacious!

“Wonderful Holiday Package”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This was my first package purchase for any trip. We had never been to Nashville, although we did have to cancel our first attempt in 2010 due to the flood. I was very concerned about buying a package, thinking maybe you get the left over seats for the shows. Not the case here. We enjoyed a front tables at both dinner shows and fairly good seats at the other two shows.
Our room was in the Delta with a lovely balcony overlooking the Delta River, with amazing, beautiful Christmas decorations throughout the place.
It was like a cruise with no water. We even returned one evening to find a "towel animal" waiting for us. We parked the car and never retrieved it until our departure four days later. The shuttle was sufficient and convenient to get us downtown. The three on-site restaurants we dined at were all excellent !
I look forward to returning for another enjoyable weekend getaway.

Room Tip: 5th floor overlooks the rooftops of the interior structures, this provides for a more private settin...

“Over-rated - what's with the hype?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

My husband and I stayed here for a romantic weekend away and were expecting a lot given the reviews. I was really disappointed actually and wouldn't say it's worth the hype or the expensive price-tag.

While the atrium is nice and there are definitely activities to keep you busy, I wouldn't say it is the best thing since sliced bread and wouldn't stay here again. The room itself was a glorified Comfort Inn-like room - not what I was expecting again given the rave reviews and rate. We stupidly paid extra for the atrium-view but beware of them anyway - We were given a room on the second floor, and people were walking right by our room on some of the paths that are created throughout the atrium. No privacy without the black-out shades drawn for sure. And our view wasn't even that great either - had a view of the elevator shaft and said paths. We reserved a king bed but got two queens...no guarantees even if you pay in full two weeks in advance...And the hairdryer was from the early 90s at best. (Small detail I know but I feel those things contribute to the overall quality and experience....for better or for worse.) When we called in-room dining, we were transferred three times and put on hold for awhile - one transfer even asked us what city we were in....What? We called the front desk, how'd that happen and shouldn't they know what city we are calling from?

Come on Gaylord Opryland! If you are going to charge a million bucks, treat your guests like that and upgrade your rooms stat!

PS - Multiple channels on the TV are all about the Gaylord hotels - getting bombarded by their ads gets old when you don't think much of them in the first place.

Room Tip: If there's no conference in town and you have a choice of room upon check in, you might want to...

“Awesome stay at Opryland Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I live 45 minutes from Nashville. A friend and I decided to meet up and decided to stay at Opryland which is halfway for us both with her living in Kentucky. It is a safe place to stay and has many things to offer without leaving the hotel/resort. We were absolutely thrilled with our stay. We booked a room that did not overlook any of the wonderful interior gardens to keep our cost down. Upon arrival and check in we were pleasantly surprised to see that they had upgraded our room to a water fall view at no additional cost. What a room!!!! We immediatley went to open the balcony doors and thought we were in the tropics which is an awesome feeling in the cold of January! We could not have asked for better treatment from the staff, they were all super friendly and helpful when needed. The restaurants have wonderful food and are priced comparable to any other resort. I definately will be planning on another stay soon It was such a GREAT getaway, we stayed one night and when we left it felt like we had stayed a full weekend partly due to the fact you are not wasting time and energy by running around outside of the resort for meals or activities. I hope more locals are taking advantage of a night away at Orpyland as you feel you are miles away when you stay there.
