“Christmas in Nashville”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Gaylord is a beautiful hotel! Took my elderly parents (80s) and spent two nights there. The service was pretty good. We were able to take a bus (no charge) from the hotel to the Grand Ole Opry to see the Rockettes, which was spectacular! My parents were able to be driven by golf cart to the door.

We stayed in a handicap accessible room whch was very nice; walk in shower, large room. The problem was the distance from the lobby to our room. My parents were exhausted when we would go out and come back! This hotel is like the disney world of hotels in size. So if walking a distance is a problem then you should ask for a room closer to the lobby or borrow a wheelchair.

If you have a handicap tag or placard you can valet park for the same price as self-parking. That was a big help too because it was raining part of the trip. Worth the $3-5 tip each way!

We did go out to eat our meals because of the cost of the in hotel restaurants. $15 for a waffle....really?

Overall a great holiday trip.

Room Tip: if walking a distance is a problem, then ask for a room close to the lobby.

“Great place to stay if you don't mind a lot of walking!”

We stayed in the Magnolia section of the hotel in a room with a king sized bed. Our room was nice with a flat screen tv. Our friends in the adjoining room were not so lucky. The shower in the room was broken, the heater/air conditioner was broken, and the security latch on the door was so loose, that it locked them out of the room. Maintenance fixed everything and the hotel gave them a discount on the room.
The magnolia section is convenient to the convention center, but a really long way from everything else.

“Always an amazing stay with plenty of exercise!”

I haves stayed here several times but this was the first time since the flood of 2009. They have done an amazing job of restoring and renovating the hotel. I had room D0126 which was a great room if you are here for a convention. The room was huge with a couch, aa couple of chairs and a desk. I have never been in a room this large here. Plus, it was on the first floor and in the Delta wing which meant I was only steps away from the convention center and no elevators. It also means you can park at Opry Mills and save the $18/day self parking fee, which I think is pretty stout since they already tack on a $15 resort fee. I guess they had to find some way to pay for the renovation and the new flood wall. Overall, if you are in town for an event at the Opryland Hotel, this is the only place to stay!

“Seasoned world traveler find best hotel experience yet!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I'm going to be honest with you folks, I have stayed at some terrible hotels and I have stayed at some world class 5 star hotels, and this one BY FAR takes the prize as being number one! This hotel combines the best of classic and modern architecture, sprawling gardens and walkways maintained to perfection, and an endless amount of fine dining and southern hospitality. When you stay in a place where the staff truly enjoy what they do for a living it makes it a place you will remember. With the Gaylord Opryland it was apparent that every employee from the front desk staff down to the house keepers took unparalleled pride in every detail of their jobs, and it reflected in the look and feel of the place. I can truthfully say I was sad to leave, and could have spent another week with them. However, I plan to make a point of stopping in with the family for a few days a year to stay at what I consider the best hotel I've come across in my travels yet. Do yourself a favor and book a vacation that includes a stay at this hotel. You wont regret it!

“Photos don't do it justice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I have been to the Opryland Hotel several times for business and I can honestly say it is one of the most beautiful places I've stayed. Every time I'm there I try to take pictures to show others how beautiful it is but the pictures just don't do it justice. Even though I've only been there for business I would enjoy going for pleasure. The rooms are spotless and the beds are very comfortable. The staff is very polite, friendly and professional. The food is terrific and varied...there's a little something for everyone there. I'd like to give accolades to the gardening staff as the gardens throughout are incredibly beautiful. I'd like to also mention that the shops inside have very nice merchandise whether it's to splurge on a little extravagance for yourself or to pick up a little something for a souvenir .Someday I'd love to go back when it's not business related.

Room Tip: I personally like the rooms with a balcony overlooking the gardens although they can be a bit more n...
