“A great B&B in the mountains of Tennessee.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2010

We had to be in Mountain City, Tn for a few days in May and with limited motel chain availability in this small mountain community, my sister recommended Prospect Hill Bed and Breakfast Inn to us. After spending several days at this lovely B&B, we can't wait to go back. Our room was very clean and all the details were thought of. The full breakfast each morning was awesome. The hosts, Robert and Judy Hotchkiss, were so accommodating and helpful. We had a "romance room" that had a spiral staircase, leading up to a large updated bathroom with a whirlpool tub. We enjoyed everything about our experience at this place and we can't wait to go back.

“Fantastic place to stay in the mountains”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2009

This is a wonderful B&B set in the middle of the mountains. My husband and I stayed here whilst driving down the Blue Ridge Parkway and it was a wonderful way to break up the driving.

Everything has been thought of by these hosts, the result being a very relaxing, hospitable B&B.

Our room was lovely - the bathroom in particular was very luxurious. Having a view of 3 states was also pretty cool.

I'd definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area - it's a little off the beaten track but worth it.

“A great getaway in the mountains”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2009

We recently stayed 4 nights at Prospect Hill. This beautiful old home has many interesting features. Friendly hosts Judy and Robert will gladly provide details about its history, and they are eager to help with activity suggestions and directions. Breakfast each day is a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds. A comfortable room, porches, and quiet garden spots all invite relaxation. Venture out to enjoy scenic drives and day trips to nearby towns in 3 states (TN, NC, VA). We had fun with Big Head, and admired shy Tiger Lily from a distance. B&B accommodation is our favorite way to travel, and Prospect Hill delivered a very pleasant experience for us.

“Perfection!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2008

My fiance' and I stayed at Prospect Hill for two nights over Labor Day weekend and the experience was exceptional!

I want to keep the review reasonable in length but I have so many complements I don't think a traditional format will do. So, I will simply list all the great things about the trip.

-Booking the room was very simple. Robert and Judy have a very nice website with tons of information. They also feature up-to-date availability calendars and on-line booking to make everything simple.

-Robert and Judy (the owners of the inn) are fantastic hosts. They have a great deal of experience as B&B owners and it shows. Any questions you might have before or during your stay they are always glad to answer. They know the area well and can make some excellent recommendations but they are always very respectful of your privacy. This was important to us since some B&B hosts can be a little overly intrusive. That is not the case at all while staying at Prospect Hill. They are friendly/helpful people but they will give you all the privacy you'd like and simply be there when you need them.

-The house itself is beautifully restored and decorated. They have maintained a wonderful balance between the historic feel of the old home and modern amenities to help make the stay relaxing. We staying in the two level Rose Romance Room and it featured a gas-log fireplace, individual thermostat, HUGE whirlpool tub, and a beautiful tile shower. The entire home is extremely beautiful.

-Breakfast was delicious. They begin each meal with coffee and/or juice and a very nice cup of fruit. On our first morning they served delicious apple stuffed french toast with homemade cinnamon syrup and on the second morning the main course was a unique and delicious baked egg dish.

-They also have two cats. One indoors that pretty much keeps to itself and the other is a very friendly outdoor cat that will probably greet you when you arrive.

I honestly don't have a single complaint about the experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Feel free to contact me here on TripAdvisor if you are considering the Prospect Hill and would like more details about our experience. We are actually visiting again in October so we'll have plenty of knowledge to share.

“Awesome getaway.”

Change of plans had us head to the mountains instead of the coast for two day (one night) trip. When we arrived we were greeted by the owners (who are very nice) and recommended some local places for dinner.

We stayed in the Romance Room and it was wonderful. The private entrance to the porch was great when you wanted to sit on the swing and look our over the scenery. There was even a blanket in the room to wrap up in on the swing (it was cool out). The whirlpool tub for two was a great way to relax and spend quality time cuddling by candles and the fireplace.

Breakfast the next morning was very good with fruit , juice, and stuffed French toast. Got to meet the other guests and learn about all the fun things in the area to do. The owners know not only the immediate area but surrounding areas and are more then willing to offer suggestions.
